    Barrier Brewing Company
    Oceanside, NY
    Internship Opportunity

Barrier Brewing Company, located in Oceanside NY, is looking to take on it’s first ever brewery intern. This position will be focussed on the production, packaging and warehousing aspect of the business. This is not an office, marketing or sales internship. Familiarity with the brewing process is not necessary, knowledge of the industry is a plus, real world know-how and common sense are crucial.

From April to June 30th (3 months) you will be assisting our dedicated, professional brewing staff to make some of the best beer in the world. You will, however, not be doing this by taste testing, developing recipes, or operating heavy equipment. Your best friend, during your time here, will be the Rubbermaid Maximizer Industrial Floor Push Broom. You will also become intimately familiar with various cleaning chemicals, scotch brite pads, nitrile gloves, respirators and the molecular makeup of black mold. Cleanliness is next to godliness, and beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy.

Make no mistake, brewing is 90% cleaning, and the other half is physical. We think that’s what Yogi meant. We will be right there beside you, cleaning tanks, with the understanding that each individual’s contribution is equally important; so when we say “WE” make great beer, you can feel the same pride as the rest of the team.

    The nitty gritty:
-Minors need not apply (must be aged 18 years by April 2019)
-You must be available at least 3-5 days per week, M-F, Weekends optional.
    - No other jobs will interfere with your schedule, once it has been set
    - You must be physically fit enough to stand & work the entire day without an O2 mask
-You absolutely must be able to take direction and run with it
-Criticism is a part of work, take it and learn from it
-Real Forklift experience is as plus but not essential, (training possible)
-You will not be asked to do anything, that we would not/have not done ourselves

Your tasks will include but not be limited to:
-Assist on packaging line, stacking cans and wrapping pallets
    -Weighing and milling grain
-Wrapping keg pallets/ stocking taproom kegs
-Organizing incoming deliveries of hops, grain, consumables and supplies
-General cleaning of floors, drains, overhead piping, brewery and warehouse

    What you may take away:
Simply put, the right candidate will be able to execute tasks efficiently, leaving time to observe and learn from a team of experienced brewers and cellarmen. The better you can perform in this capacity, the further you will be able to plunge into the science of brewing beer. At very least, we would hope to pass on our culture of work ethic, passion for what we do, and sense of humor while doing it. Barrier is in a period of expansion, and a full/part time position may become available during this time. There are no guarantees, but we would do our best to find a place for the right person.

Barrier Brewing Co. is an equal opportunity ball buster, even if you don’t have ‘em.
Schedule and duration are flexible for the right candidate
