    Brewer Old Town Brewing Co. - Portland, OR

    Old Town Brewing Co. located in Portland, Oregon is looking for a brewer to join its award-winning team. We opened in 2011 with an emphasis on crafting its beer to reflect the spirit, values, history and personality of Portland and the Northwest. Since then, we have received national attention for our beer and innovative marketing.

    Old Town’s award winning brews can be found statewide in Oregon and in Southwest Washington at retailers like New Seasons, Whole Foods, Safeway, Albertsons, and Costco and many local restaurants and bars.

    Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Accurately following brewing recipes from grain to glass
    • Help design new beers for the pubs and production
    • Brewery GMP including brewhouse and tank CIPs, cleaning floors, drains, tank exteriors and equipment.
    • Daily gravity measurements of all active fermentations
    • Yeast and fermentation management
    • Work with barrels for fermentation / aging
    • Carbonating beer and measuring carbonation levels
    • Cleaning, sanitizing and filling kegs, palletizing kegs and movement to cooler
    • Assist with bottling
    • Prepping beer orders for sales distribution and delivering beer to our pubs
    • Troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
    • Maintaining accurate records for all activities
    • Safely handle chemicals
    • Attending outside sampling events and giving brewery tours as needed
    • Maintaining regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
    • Acting with integrity and honesty

    Qualifications
    • Production brewery experience of 1+ years. Ideal candidate will have experience in all areas of the brewery.
    • Follows directions well and pays attention to details.
    • Desire for mechanical aptitude with ability to maintain and repair equipment.
    • Physically able to work on your feet for long hours and be able to safely lift and/or maneuver 165 lbs.
    • Must be able to lift, load, unload, and move products, which requires twisting, turning, bending, and/or squatting repeatedly throughout the day
    • Willingness to work irregular hours and weekends as our production grows.
    • Great attitude, willingness to be part of a team, and do what is required to meet production demands.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and stay on track with timing of deliverables.
    • Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot quickly.
    • Passionate and knowledgeable about craft beer.
    • Must be able to work safely and follow safety programs

    Education:
    • Formal brewing education or bachelor degree preferred but not required (Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, etc).

    A valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record are required for this position.
