    DIXIE BREWERY IS BACK!

    Originally founded in 1907, Dixie is now building a new brewery in the heart of New Orleans (east). The brewery is set for commissioning in early Q4-2019 and we are immediately hiring for the lead Maintenance Engineer role.

    This position is perfect for an experienced, hands-on, self-starter with a deep passion for fixing and keeping things running. You should have a mechanical mind and an interest in getting your hands dirty from day one. You should be excited to come to work and collaborate with a professional team that is reintroducing an iconic brand to New Orleans.The 100-bbl Huppmann brewhouse was purchased from Red Hook Brewery (Oregon) last year and is being re-constructed/updated onsite in New Orleans right now. In addition, we are installing a brand new 15-bbl 'craft' two-vessel brewhouse as the centerpiece of Dixie's brewhouse/museum experience.

    Dixie will be looking to verify four professional references from previous employers prior to final offers.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Properly prepare and maintain all production equipment and facility systems to assure that peak operational efficiency is maintained at all times.
    • Troubleshoot equipment and system issues (electrical, mechanical and pneumatic) in real-time as required.
    • Provide hands-on support with solving daily production issues as well as supporting continuous improvement processes by recommending solutions to address capacity, cost and quality constraints.
    • Execute minor construction projects needed to address facility and/or production equipment modifications. Demonstrated ability to:
    o Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment, using precision measurement tools. Interpret schematics and equipment manuals
    • Ability to troubleshoot and re-wire high speed and/or highly automated equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, servo motors, and PLC I/O modules. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
    • Assist with developing and implementing a preventative maintenance program and schedule for all equipment and systems, including the management of the spare parts inventory.
    • Evaluate manufacturing performance data and make recommendations for addressing systemic issues.
    • Partner with production line operators to meet production schedules, including troubleshooting and identification of root cause issues and corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
    • Demonstrate a leadership position within the company to assist and teach operators basic preventative maintenance procedures and adjustments to settings to improve efficiency.
    • Assist production line team during equipment tear down, sanitation and reassembly process to ensure proper execution of procedures and minimization of downtime or changeover process time.
    • Identify process improvements resulting in cost savings, efficiency improvements, and quality or safety improvements.
    • Communicate and coordinate with outside vendors as needed.
    • Responsible for facility maintenance and ensuring safe work conditions.
    • Assist other areas of production or equipment operators as needed.
    • Maintain proper documentation and record keeping, including data entry in computer systems
    • Work with the management team to resolve any known conditions potentially affecting food safety or product quality
    • Assist in the creation of plant safety requirements and adherence to requirements once implemented.
    • Ensures maintenance of company vehicles, including forklifts and trailers, and keeps regulatory items pertaining to those vehicles current

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and any/all established processes, whether established by their manager, by the company or by law.
    • Previous maintenance technician or maintenance mechanic experience, preferably in a food or similar manufacturing environment.
    • Comfortable learning new equipment and mechanical systems and troubleshooting under pressure
    • Experienced in the operation of a forklift, scissor lift or pallet jack, as well as other rental equipment typically used in construction of maintenance situations.
    • Working knowledge of plumbing systems and installation a bonus.
    • Working knowledge of electricity - wiring 110/208/480V single and 3 phase
    • Working knowledge of industrial refrigeration, a bonus.
    • Working knowledge of temperature control systems
    • Understanding of food safety, workplace safety, and food quality standards is strongly preferred.
    • Ability to perform the physical job demands.
    • Self-directed, personally motivated with strong attention to detail.
    • Team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
    • Excellent attendance and performance track record.
    • Sanitary and repair welding skills a plus
    • Boiler and steam control experience a plus
    • Familiarity with lock out/tag out safety procedures, as well as any other FDA/OSHA standards applicable to food and beverage production facilities

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Must work in a safe manner and comply with all health, safety, security and emergency requirements. Assesses workplace safety and coordinates with the management team to remedy any recognized potentially unsafe conditions.
    • Compensation will be TBD based on experience
    • Full time Hourly
    • General Schedule: 1st Shift Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm or 2'nd shift Monday - Friday 3:15pm - 11:45pm. This position's schedule is to be flexible based on production demands, maintenance projects and ability to work on machines during non-production hours
    • Eligible for Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits
    • Training will occur during first shift hours.
    • The maintenance role requires flexibility in hours and days sometimes weekend shifts and overtime are necessary.
    • We expect our maintenance tech to be willing to be “on-call” outside normal work hours as needed
