    Objective

    This position operates the filler on the packaging department.

    Essential Responsibilities


    Packaging Technician (Filler)
    • Mastery of all end-of-the-line and kegging tasks (operation of palletizer, depal, hi-cone, senpack, forklift, kegline, crusher and general cleaning).
    • Operates the can filler including cips, sips, atp readings and quality checks.
    • Perform opening and closing CIP/SIP procedures, without supervision.
    • Maintains up to date standard operating procedures, logs, and safety information
    • Operates the ATP meter, displays knowledge of swab technique and theory.
    • Follows all opening procedures to bring beer in to filler.
    • Follows all closing procedures to end filler run.
    • Completes height changes to all package styles in timely manner.
    • Completes seamer height adjust in timely manner.
    • Performs can tests for DO, CO2 and logs in database.
    • Completes a seam check and recognize spec errors.
    • Diagnoses and performs basic problem solving for errant DO readings.
    • General knowledge of can theory and filling process
    • Understands valve theory.
    • Navigates HMI, logs in and out and identifies all buttons used for production.
    • Identifies errors and problems at HMI and reports to supervisor.
    • Knowledge of Videojet operation, basic controls at start up and closing.
    • Communicates with end of line throughout run to maximize efficiency.
    • Performs opening and closing CIP/SIP procedures without supervision.
    • Performs changeover in a timely fashion, without assistance.
    • Runs initial test keg and be able to train a Pack Technician in keg tests.
    • Reports issues to supervisor and assists in making repairs to machines during production.
    • Works with an operator to bring beer successfully to the keg line, yet able to perform the task solo as needed.



    Packaging Technician (Racking)
    • Performs shut down, end of work and closing procedures, without assistance.
    • Completes packaging logs.
    • Updates production sheet and reports to supervisor.
    • Reviews packaging logs, verifies accuracy and recognizes mistakes.
    • Diagnoses and performs basic problem solving for errant DO readings.
    • Navigates HMI, logs in and out, and identifies all buttons used for production.
    • Identifies errors and problems at HMI and reports to supervisor.
    • Transfers partials, logs transfers and updates packaging logs.
    • Washes kegs as needed for specialty brews and maintains accurate stock of clean kegs.
    • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment.




    Additional Responsibilities
    • Supports the basic training of new packaging employees.
    • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

    Physical & Mental Requirements

    Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently lift and move 25-75 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls.
