Mad Fox Brewing Company, a brewpub in Falls Church, Virginia just minutes from Washington, DC is hiring for an entry level brewer to work alongside veteran brewer Bill Madden. Bill graduated from University of California at Davis’ Master Brewers Program in 1995 and has worked at various breweries in the DMV since. Experience working in a brewery or production facility preferred but not necessary. Any formal brewing education a plus. This is a full-time position with salary commensurate to experience. JOB DUTIES
• Ability to perform all cellar/brewing operations:
• CIP and sanitize fermenters, bright beer tanks, and yeast brinks
• Clean, sanitize and fill kegs to meet our distribution demands in Virginia, Maryland and DC
• Accurate documentation of fermenting beer, dry hopping regimen, fining etc.
• Racking and carbonating beer in bright beer tanks
• Cleaning trunk lines, maintaining clean draft system
• Scrub floors and keep brewery clean and organized
• Read recipe cards and pull/weigh/mill grist for brews
• Calculate and weigh hops for brews
• Sanitary harvest and handling of yeast
• Clean, Clean, Clean!
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
• Passion for beer and learning
• Clean driving record
• Clear understanding of the brewing process
• Ability to multitask and adjust priorities as needed
• Mechanical aptitude a plus
• Ability to take direction as well as work independently
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Heavy physical work with the ability to lift 55 pounds (malt bags) or to move 165 pounds (kegs)
• Work in hot environment in the summer, cold at times in the winter.
• Wet floors
• Work with hazardous chemicals, gases, and hot liquids daily.
• Safety minded
