Industrial Mechanic
The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for care, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of all major brewery mechanical systems including but not limited to fork trucks, brew house, canning line, grain conveyance system, air compressors, pumps, wastewater systems, pneumatics, industrial refrigeration, hot water heaters, and boilers. They will occasionally work odd hours and overnight shifts to conduct maintenance during off production hours. The Industrial Mechanic will work closely with our production team to develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan to help ensure all systems operate optimally and without downtime. This position reports directly to the Director of Brewing Operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Independently install and maintain both manual and automated brewery equipment to stringent specifications
Develop & perform routine maintenance programs for the brew house, equipment packaging lines, and other critical brewery mechanical systems.
Maintain and oversee the development of an essential spare parts inventory
Keep records of repairs and develop or make necessary changes to planned maintenance schedule
Work with equipment operators to identify areas of required maintenance before equipment failure
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair brewery and packaging equipment related problems such as mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic
Provide emergency unscheduled repairs of packaging equipment and brewery equipment as needed
Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and other tools necessary to complete repairs
Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
Assist with new equipment installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
Develop relationships with key vendors
Work with Mikkeller’s DOBO to schedule preventive maintenance where required.
Work with operators to learn the optimal function of every system. Should be able to operate all systems or troubleshoot independently.
Perform any and all other brewery related tasks as assigned in both Cellar & Packaging.
Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multi task are essential.
Flexibility is a must. Unscheduled downtime is an unfortunate reality and will require your expertise at unexpected times.
Demonstrable top-notch mechanical skills.
Ability to actively listen and cooperatively solve problems and relate well to others
Ability to work quickly and lucidly to solve problems
Exhibits a high degree of professionalism and commitment to achieving results
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
Is able to triage and prioritize both day to day and longer-term projects

A strong understanding of electronics, instrumentation and programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) in industrial applications
Electrical, plumbing and pipe fitting skills
Follow lock out/tag out procedures for machinery
Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, prints and schematics, operating manuals and repair manuals
Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal training or supervision
High attention to detail, accuracy and precision
Strong troubleshooting/problem solving/logic/process of elimination skills
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
While primarily an indoor job, must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
Must be able to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
Must be able to drive vehicles with either a manual and / or automatic transmission
Must be able to use a ladder, i.e., work at heights of 10+’ above grade
Must be able to operate a fork truck, electric hand truck, and mechanized lifts.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work odd hours, sometimes nights and weekends.
