    Our team is restarting the brewer hiring process. We have had a successful start up and are looking to bring someone on full time to handle the daily operations on the beer side. We make great clean beer and are in the early stages of a large sour program. We are located in the college town of Newark Delaware; a great location between Baltimore and Philadelphia.     Autumn Arch Beer Project is an authentic, experimental, small-batch brewery and tasting room opening in November 2018 just outside of Newark, Delaware. Autumn Arch endeavors to produce a wide variety of high quality, distinctive beers, including a dedicated sour beer program, for consumers that value unique and fresh craft beer. We are seeking a highly motivated Head Brewer with a passion for the beer creation process to join our team.

    Head Brewer Position Summary
    The Head Brewer will be proficient with all aspects of the brewing process, including grain handling, brewhouse operation, yeast management, fermentation monitoring and management, filtering/transferring, carbonation, quality control of both wort and final beer, kegging and bottling, and inventory management of raw materials and final product. This individual will organize and prioritize the day-to-day operations of the brewhouse and cellar.

    Hours
    This position will require availability 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Availability for special events, which occur around 5-7 times per year, is also required.

    Pay
    This is an hourly position, with competitive pay and opportunity for overtime.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Be an ambassador of the Autumn Arch Beer Project brand and an advocate of our beers
    • Ability to create recipes to style and follow procedures to produce wort on our 5 barrel brewhouse

    • Ability to create recipes to style and follow procedures to produce wort on our 5 barrel brewhouse
    • Manage multiple yeast strains, ensuring yeast health and appropriate pitching quantities
    • Clean brewery and equipment including brewhouse, heat exchanger, fermenters, brite tanks, kegs, and general facility
    • Monitor and manage fermentation of beers
    • Transfer to package
    • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on brewery equipment and process
    • Adhere to brewery safety practices
    • Derive manufacturing schedule and manage inventory
    • Set daily priorities



    The Ideal Candidate
    • 1-3 years of pub brewing or professional brewing experience
    • Solid understanding of brewing process and science (cell counting) and brewery operations (SOPs, quality standards)
    • Ability to describe beer flavors including desirable and defining characteristics of a style of beer, and ability to recognize common off-flavors in beers
    • Familiarity with sour/wild beer and cleaning practices
    • Good mechanical skills including troubleshooting basic mechanical systems
    • Self-motivated with good time management skills
    • Strong commitment to cleanliness and organization
    • Ability to work as an independent entity but also with small team
    • Supreme attention to detail
    • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 55 lbs
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office
