    Job Description:
    We are looking for a self-motivated, hard working, dedicated individual to join our Production team!

    The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and reproducibility of our beer and other packaged products. This position plays an active role in lab setup, maintenance, QA/QC, and sensory analysis. The Quality Assurance Manager is also responsible for developing and organizing laboratory and QA/QC Programs. These programs include, but are not limited to: microbiological stability, finished beer analysis, sensory analysis, yeast maintenance.

    The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for Independent Craft Beer and be motivated to grow within the company and stay for the long term.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    - Schedule, train, and supervise the future Lab Technicians with a large picture focus on the management and continued development of the Quality team and program as a whole
    - Maintain an accurate and detailed record of quality data in spreadsheets and brewery management software
    - Aggregation of companywide quality related data and effective dissemination of data to the team
    - Regular communication with offsite tasting rooms to ensure products and processes meet expectations
    - Collaborate with the Production management team to optimize quality, throughput, and efficiency of all production processes
    - Evaluate daily yeast samples taken from wort, or any media in use, to ensure cell counts on yeast and fermenting wort meet specifications
    - Ensure effective communication of cell count results to Production staff, resulting in proper pitch rates and healthy fermentations
    - Process final responsibility for the quality of all products and processes across all facilities, including, but not limited to, SOPs and process development, yeast management,
    micro, and packaging quality
    - Prepare microbiological media, sterile plating, and microscopic analysis of microbial growth
    - Identify microbes in case of contamination
    - Perform risk assessment with OOS or contaminated product in conjunction with the Brewmaster
    - Conduct aseptic and environmental sampling throughout the brewery
    - Confirm calibrations and cleanliness of lab equipment including but not limited to Microscope, Spectrophotometer, Alcolyzer, Glassware, Anton Paar PFD and meter, pH meter
    - Be a driver of draft quality and freshness of all products, across all locations, by working with Front of House teams to ensure best serving practices are being observed, assisting in troubleshooting as needed
    - Oversee maintenance of lab equipment, as well as an inventory of lab equipment and expendables
    - Work with the Brewmaster to create short and long term budgetary plans, planning for capital expenditure requests as well as forecasting of Lab personnel needs
    - Develop laboratory SOPs and optimize every aspect of the QC/QA program
    - Be a resource for brewers’ questions on pH, cell count, healthy fermentation and brewery cleanliness
    - Develop a robust Sensory program including education, analysis, and testing
    - Other tasks may be assigned as needed

    Required Experience:
    - Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
    - Knowledge of beer production process
    - Knowledge and understanding of basic laboratory functions and microbiological concepts
    - Minimum two years of professional laboratory experience required
    - Minimum two years of professional people management experience required
    - Four Year college degree from an accredited university, or the equivalent, strongly preferred
    - Strong work ethic and self-starting attitude
    - Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
    - The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company
    - Genuine enthusiasm for craft beer
    - Willingness to regularly work during evenings and weekends required

    Physical Requirements:
    - Able to stand for prolonged periods
    - Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
    - Able to manipulate valves and clamps
    - Able to regularly lift/carry 44-pound boxes
    - Able to regularly lift/carry 55-pound bags above waist level
    - Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
    - Able to lift/move 165 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance
    - Able to proficiently stack and move barrels on barrel racks
    - Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
    - Able to both work, and thrive, in a high-stress environment that has a quiet to moderate noise level
    - Able to read and follow written English instructions
    - Able to safely navigate the taprooms, including crowded spaces
    - Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
    - Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floors
    - Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards


    Pay and Benefits:

    Work Location: Home base location will be our Production Facility (4880 Colt St, Ventura, CA).

    - Full time, salaried position
    - Pay commensurate with experience
    - Two weeks paid time off
