    Job Scope:
    The Production Manager at M.I.A. Beer Co. will work with the Owner, Head Brewer, Cellar Manager, and Lead Brewer to ensure the brewery is operating at its maximum efficiency and at the highest standards of quality, safety, and attention to detail. This position reports to the Head Brewer.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for brewing team member leadership and management including hiring, personnel development, appraisals, and disciplinary actions

    • Work with the Head Brewer to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and oversee training of employees 

    • Develop and maintain training records for each brewing employee and perform regular audits of all department employees to ensure proper execution of SOPs

    • Work with the Head Brewer and QA/QC Manager to develop minimum quality standards for all aspects of the brewing process from raw ingredients to final packaging and define flavor and sensory analysis guidelines to assure all products are true to brand
    
• Responsible for all aspects of brewing operations, including utilities, raw materials, safety, quality assurance, and maintenance to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted flow of production
    
• Create schedules of brewing, packaging, and QA/QC product flow
    
• Work with the Head Brewer to forecast, order, and maintain inventory of raw ingredients for the production of wort
    
• Forecast, order and maintain inventory of all raw materials required for packaging

    • Work with the Cellarman to develop procedures and maintain inventory of parts and consumables needed to ensure the efficient, sanitary, and uninterrupted flow of product from the brewhouse to packaging
    • Develop procedures and records to ensure all raw materials are procured, stored, and maintained at the highest level of quality

    • Develop and maintain a robust Safety and HACCP Program including training, record-keeping, and HAZMAT information

    • Develop, manage, and implement a preventive maintenance schedule and spare parts inventory for all equipment
    • Monitor QA/QC data and make adjustments to process and formulation as needed for product consistency and specification adherence
    
• Participate in QA/QC taste panels to evaluate adherence to quality and flavor agreement
    • Recommend and/or make improvements to machinery, equipment, processes and facilities affecting quality and/or efficiency and manage improvement projects

    • Track production-pertinent information into preferred software program
    Experience and Skills:
    • Minimum 2-years’ experience in a management role in a brewery preferred

    • Brewing experience strongly preferred

    • Forklift experience required 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite or comparable software required
    • Recipe development experience in a wide variety of styles required 

    • SOP development and revision
    
• Knowledge and execution of safe working practices 

    • Ability to work and communicate well with all staff 

    • Well organized with an eye for attention to detail and cleanliness

    Education and Certification:
    • Associates degree or higher in Brewing Science or a related field such as Engineering, Food Science, Biology, or Chemistry strongly preferred

    • Successful completion of a formally recognized brewing program strongly preferred
    • Cicerone Certified Beer Server preferred
    Physical Demands:
    • Must be able to lift 55lbs to shoulder height and push or pull 165lbs 

    • Must be able to work on your feet for 10 hours

    • Must be able to crouch, bend, lift, and reach
    
• Must be able to work in hot, wet, and loud environment 

    • Must be able to work with and around steam, electricity, harsh chemicals, and solvents

    • Continual moving, lifting, and manipulation of hoses, buckets, pumps, and other parts that require extended standing, lifting, crouching, and walking throughout shift
