    Urban South Brewery is a production brewery and taproom in the heart of New Orleans, LA. We are seeking an experienced brewer to join our team who is committed to pursuing and maintaining our mission, vision and core values. We are three years old and are one of the fastest growing breweries in the country.     JOB TITLE: Brewer/Cellarperson
    REPORTS TO: Head Brewer
    FLSA POSITION TYPE: Full-time (40 Hours per week)

    POSITION SUMMARY: Brewer/Cellarperson will be involved with all areas of brewing beer and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in and around the brewhouse and cellar operations. Individuals in this position will be expected to follow the correct procedures while maintaining a high level of cleanliness and quality. In addition, Brewer/Cellarperson will perform a variety of tasks as assigned in the brewery and warehouse, including cleaning, installation and maintenance of production equipment. A flexible work-schedule is required. Work hours will include evening shifts and weekends on a rotating basis.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Adhere to and advance the Mission and Vision Statements of Urban South Brewery.
    • Embody the Core Values and Core Competencies of Urban South Brewery.
    • Complete brewing process in a safe and efficient manner, including, but not limited to milling, mashing, and lautering, wort boiling, cooling, and transferring to fermenters.
    • Follow standard operating procedures unless otherwise instructed.
    • Maintain a high level of brewhouse, milling, cellar, and brewer workstation cleanliness.
    • Ensure products meet the highest quality standards.
    • Monitor, pitch, and evaluate yeast as necessary.
    • Contribute to recipe and new product development.
    • Operate cellar equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Monitor gravities, temperatures, DO and carbonation daily.
    • Maintain situational awareness of utilities: boiler, R/O filter, liquor tank levels, as they relate to daily operations and correct any issues as they arise.
    • Participate in brewery tours, taproom events, and other promotions/marketing.
    • Attend all team meetings as requested.
    • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

    • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk, hear, and smell
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Attentiveness and ability to learn and adapt to new equipment and processes
    • Ability to work flexible days and hours
    • Forklift experience
    • Ability to work independently with little supervision – self motivated
    • Attention to detail
    • Passionate about process improvement and product quality
    • High level of craft beer product knowledge
    • 3+ years working at a production brewery and/or professional brewing education
