Job Description – Assistant Brewer
Job Summary
Brewhall Beer Co. is a craft brewery and beerhall located in Olympic Village. Our brewery focuses on collaboration and pushing the boundaries of small batch production. We produced over 50 different beers in our first year and 40 collaborations. This year we are looking to expand our onsite production. This position is a full-time role. Experience working in the brewing industry is favoured but more important is a positive, hard-working attitude. This job will include a lot of cleaning and assisting the head brewer in their operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Cleaning and maintaining a well-organized brewery
• Assisting in wort production, including but not limited to milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, whirlpool, knockout, grain out, and tank transferring
• Performing designated quality control checks throughout the brewing process
• Adhering to brewery operation and quality standards
• Maintaining brewery records
• CIP of brewhouse, fermenting vessels, bright tanks and serving vessels
• Cellar work, including but not limited to monitoring fermentation, yeast handling and pitching, dry hopping, fruit additions and transferring
• Keg cleaning and filling
• Weekly delivery of kegs and packaged product to accounts
• Performing additional cellar and brewhouse tasks as required
• Representing the brewery at events and festivals as required
Qualifications and Skills
• Flexible work schedule
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Passionate about craft beer and the craft brewing industry
• Some brewing experience preferred
• Strong record keeping and time management skills
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently
• Ability to lift 55 lbs repeatedly
• Ability to maneuver up to 150 lbs
Job Types: Full-time
Compensation: hourly to start
