  • keg seal sanitation

    Hi all,

I'm just wondering if anyone out there feels it necessary to sanitise the surface of the seal before placing the cap on?

Obviously, some keg coupler types are at more risk than others - e.g. D-type have quite a well and can trap quite a bit of liquid whereas A-type are almost flat.

We spray some dilute PAA into the well before capping. Might not make a difference, but can't hurt.

We always rinse our gaskets after racking and then sanitize with ISO 70% before capping. When it has not been done, we have seen mold build up over time, not all the time but rarely. SOP just eliminates any possibility of contamination.

We usually fill the well with sani before capping. Have never seen anything growing by doing this.
