  • Losing flavor/aroma filtering IPA

    Hey all,

We filter a number of brands through a 5L Velo DE with a scavenger with great results, including a different IPA brand, but are having trouble with a brand we have previously not filtered, an orange peel WCIPA. We want to make it shelf stable for packaging, clarity is not our first priority, but when run through we lose almost all of the orange zest, aroma, and are left with a weird malty bomb. Almost taste like over ripe oranges.

We’ve played with different dosing of cellulose and high flow but didn’t try any standard due to fear of completely stripping. I’m new to DE filtering. We’ve also considered adding orange peel and a dry hop post filter with a small amount fo finings.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Sounds like a good idea- or perhaps a orange flavor from https://amoretti.com
