Springfield Brewing Company (SBC) is located in Springfield, Missouri, and has been an integral part of Springfield since 1997. Originally opened as a showcase facility for Paul Mueller Company’s locally produced and internationally known stainless steel equipment, Springfield Brewing Company has grown into a well-respected brewer of great ales and lagers, now selling these beers in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. Our current production volume is 3,000 BBLs/year with cellar capacity currently permitting 6,000 BBLs/year. SBC sells about 1,000 BBLs/year through our restaurant taps and all growth has been through distribution channels in bottles and kegs.
The Brewer is responsible for wort production, fermentation management and quality control. In addition, the Brewer must be proficient in operating packaging machinery, kegging finished product, and troubleshooting equipment, cleaning tanks and vessels, and a high adherence to our quality and safety standards. Maintaining a safe work environment is mandatory.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Follow standard operating procedures of SBC to produce wort, manage fermentation and package finished beer.
Multi-task while being detail and quality focused.
Clean draft lines and ensure beer is carbonated properly and pouring up to SBC standards.
Represent SBC by occasionally working events, tastings and tap takeovers.
Participate in general cleaning and organization of the brewing, packaging and storage areas.
Work with hot, cold and hazardous equipment and chemicals.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
Produce wort and manage fermentation.
Measure and mill in grain for brewing.
Operate forklift to keep the storage area neat, load and unload trucks and load out spent grain.
Mash in, lauter, boil and knock out wort.
Operate pumps and valves to CIP and sanitize fermentation and serving vessels.
Carbonate beer using carb stones, spunding valves and head pressure utilization.

Strong brewing and craft beer knowledge.
Ability to interface with personnel at all levels within the organization.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Must be 21 years of age.
Brewery packaging/cellar operations experience is required.
Must be able to pass a motor vehicle background check and provide proof of insurance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift 100 pounds and maneuver 175 pounds regularly
Must have the ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, work from heights, stoop, kneel and crouch
The ability to work near moving parts and machinery
Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus and the ability to see color; either with or without accommodation
The ability to work in loud, wet, cold, hot, indoor and outdoor environments frequently
