Assistant Brewer Position– Kauai Island Brewing Company
Who wouldn’t want to brew in Paradise? Kauai Island Brewing Company, located on the West Side of Kauai, Hawaii, is in search of a talented, creative and energetic assistant brewer. Our operation consists of a 10BBl JVNW brewhouse, with 7 fermentors (10BBL) and 10 serving tanks.
This position includes but is not limited to:
-All aspects of operating on our 10 bbl brewhouse from Wort production and fermentation to cellaring operations
-Maintaining the draft system and following quality control practices to pour a clean, quality product with minimal waste
-Maintaining inventory and properly storing all brewing ingredients and supplies
-Assists in general and routine maintenance of brewing area and equipment
-Maintaining a clean working environment
-Cleaning/filling kegs for distribution and outside sales
-Maintaining draft accounts of our clients, (delivering beer and cleaning lines)
-Maintaining current established recipes and participating in the creation of new seasonal recipes
-Conducting brewing operations in a cost effective manner
-Representing Kauai Island Brewing Company at occasional beer fests or brewery events
-Providing occasional tours to customers
-Additional duties may be assigned as necessary
Ideal Applicants should have:
-Minimum of two (2) years professional brewing experience, preferably in a brewpub brewery environment
-Understanding of draft technology and science
-Knowledge and understanding of brewing science, yeast handling and quality control procedures
-Formal education in brewing a plus but not required
Other desired job attributes include
-Ability to multitask, work solo, and function effectively on a team
-High degree of self-motivation and ambition
-Desire for a challenging hands-on position covering all facets of brewery operations with opportunities for growth and advancement
-Great communication and organization skills
-Problem solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills/knowledge
-Being a flexible person when it comes to your daily tasks. We all help out in many different aspects involved in getting our beer from the brewery to the pint glass.
-Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and move at least 165 lbs
Compensation
