Company Overview
450 North Brewing Company is a seven-year-old family owned and operated production brewery with restaurant in Columbus, Indiana. Accompanying the brewery is the family's 19-year-old winery. Along with the classic style beers, we specialize in fruited sours, hazy IPAs, and pastry stouts. The production goal for 2019 is on track for over 3000 BBL. We are expanding into a brand new building this fall and will be more than doubling our brewery production. We are looking for a brewer who wants to grow along with us!
Position Overview
The brewer will be responsible in assisting the head brewer in all aspects of brewing operations. The new brewhouse is a semi-automatic Probrew 20 BBL 3 vessel system with 7-20FV tanks, 3-40FV tanks, 2-20BT, and 1-40BTs.
Responsibilities:
Wort production in 20bbl 3 vessel brewhouse
Sanitation of FV, BT, and brewhouse
Yeast management
Sensory analysis
Ensuring quality packaging of kegs and cans
Production scheduling
QA/QC duties
Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment
Operating a forklift and vehicles as needed
Contribute to recipe and process development as needed
Assist in staff education
Requirements:
2-3 years minimum professional brewing experience
Strong understanding of brewing science, brewery technology, and brewery operations
Exceptional sensory analysis skills
Excellent attention to record keeping, including impeccable written and verbal communication skills
Self-starting work ethic and ability to multitask
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
Collaborative team player
Ability to work flexible hours as determined by the brewing schedule
This is a full-time salaried position. Pay is commensurate with candidate's experience. Benefits include paid vacation days, various festival tickets, beer, merch, and restaurant discounts.
