    Head Brewer
    Job Overview
    Department: Brewery
    Job Grade: First Line Supervisor
    Supervisor: Chief of Brewing Operations
    Classification: Non-Exempt

    Operation and upkeep of equipment, and maintaining quality control throughout all aspects of the
    Brewing and Cellar processes will be a focus for this position. This position will receive and
    process raw materials, gather & weigh out hops and malts, and otherwise stage brewing ingredients to
    keep production running smooth and all beers at optimal quality level.
    Hours will vary to align with staffing and Production needs.
    Duties:

    Complete brewing process in a safe and efficient manner. This includes, but is not limited to,
    milling, mashing, and lautering, wort boiling, cooling and transferring to fermenters.
    Maintaining the use of standard operating procedures unless otherwise instructed.
    Monitor, pitch and evaluate yeast as needed.
    Work with vendors to ensure our product meets our standards of the highest quality.
    Ensure supply of raw materials and other inventory items.
    Maintain cleanliness of all areas in the brew house.
    Communicate regularly and efficiently with WoodyÂ’s staff.
    Arrive to each shift on time with a positive attitude.
    Perform others duties as assigned.
    Operate cellar equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
    Follow sanitization practices to meet quality specifications and ensure proper keg line operations.
    Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
    Maintain yeast disposal, and grain area cleanup.
    Perform all tasks in an efficient, safe and productive manner.
    Maintain inventory report and order raw materials as needed to maintain proper inventory levels.
    Monitor gravities, temperatures, water PH and taste, and carbonations daily.
    Be responsible for ensuring that security procedures are adhered to throughout the building.
    Assist other departments when necessary, including but not limited to Cellars, Packaging,
    Desired Minimum Qualifications
    - Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with a certificate or other advanced education in
    the brewing process. A four year degree, or equivalent, in Fermentation Sciences is preferred.
    - Experience: 3 years in similar field
    - 2+ years brewing experience.
    - Have a basic understanding of Excel, Word, Access and other programs for brewery functions.

    The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds, and be able to occasionally move kegs which weigh
    close to 165 pounds.

    The noise level in the work environment is moderate most of the time.
    Temperatures vary seasonally in work areas.
    Compensation and Benefits
    40+ hours per week. Pay is DOE ranging from $15 per hour to $20 per hour. With bonus opportunity. Vacation pay, holiday pay, and sick pay all offered. Discounts on merchandise, food and beer.
