  • Head Brewer Atlanta Brewery

Our head brewer is moving out of state to be closer to family, so we are searching for an experienced, passionate, self-starter who is ready to dive in head first as our new head brewer. We're about to enter our third year of production, just renovated our taproom and have some big plans in the works for our future! The head brewer oversees and manages all of production. You will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the brewery. Our head brewer will be here until the end of September to help train and allow for a smooth transition.

Responsibilities and duties to include, but are not limited to:
-Over-seeing day-to-day production (brewing, cellaring, packaging, and staff)
-Brewing: Ability to produce wort following recipes and able to make adjustments on the fly to ensure every batch meets brand specs, is consistent and without flaws.
-Recipe development for taproom only exclusives (20 taps to fill), limited distro, core brands, and barrel program beers
-Cellar Operations: CIPs, transfers, clarifying (no centrifuge, no filter), yeast management, gravities & pH checks, dry hopping & other FV additions
-Packaging: cleaning and filling kegs, assisting mobile canners w/pack & stack and labeling (eventually we’ll get our own canning line, but we’re not in a rush, so rejoice, no operating a line in house!)
-Scheduling: Beer from grain to glass, production team, and mobile canners. You’ll coordinate with the sales team to determine distribution forecasting and schedule brews & packaging accordingly to ensure an even supply that meets demand. You’ll also work with the taproom manager to ensure taps are always full and we have a rotating selection of beers, and planning out occasional taproom only can releases of dope ass beers.
-Maintaining excellent, detailed records of all work performed
-Development and maintenance of SOPs as necessary
-QA/QC management: ensuring every batch meets the highest standards, hits brand specs, and has no flaws or off-flavors, knowledge of basic lab equipment and procedures
-Passionate and knowledgeable about producing a wide range of beer styles and able to keep the tap list balanced with beers for everyone. As much as we love the froot, pastries, and hazybois, we aim to have a good balance across the 20 taps so that there’s always something for everyone and you don’t get burned out on brewing one style over and over and over and over…..
-Inventory management: hops, grains, chemicals, kegs, cans, labels, warehouse supplies) and reordering supplies (or working with our Admin to reorder) as necessary
-Promoting the brand at events and fests as necessary
-Routine maintenance as necessary and scheduling PM with contractors as necessary
-Keeping the barrel program running, it takes time so planning and preparing accordingly

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Must be 21 years of age or older

-Able to work in a non-temperature controlled environment with moderate noise and seasonally fluctuating temperatures

    Compensation/Benefits
We're small so we can't offer a ton of bennies the bigger guys do, but we are working on getting benefits for everyone! In the meantime, we do offer a place where you have complete creative control of the brewing program, we're a small brewery so there isn't a ton of oversight, absolutely no micromanaging, just trusting each other to get our own shit done. The owners are super hands off on the brewing program, just brew good beer and they're happy. But right now, we do offer:
    -Competitive pay
    -401(k) plan
    -Flexible schedule, flexible PTO
-No canning or bottling line to operate and manage
    -Plans to offer health insurance

Send resumes to info@ironmongerbrewing.com with Head Brewer in the subject line.
