Mast Landing Brewing Company, one of Maine’s top breweries, is expanding its production capacity and seeking a full-time packaging assistant to join the team.

Mast Landing Brewing Company is entering its fourth year of operations in Westbrook, ME (10 minutes outside Portland, ME). We're transitioning our production into a brand new 20,000 square foot facility and are in the process of adding dedicated, hard-working professionals to our team.

Job Title : Packaging Assistant

Reports to: Packaging Manager

Start Date: Immediate

Description:

This is an entry level position focused on assisting in most duties throughout the brewery. The main task will be packaging of cans and kegs of beer, but other brewery tasks will be assigned as needed. As you master one task, we'll train you on the next. This is an excellent chance to get into the brewing industry on the ground floor.

Packaging Assistant Job Responsibilities:

• Mastering the ins and outs of operating a ABE canning line, labeler, and depalletizer
• Ability to safely operate a pallet jack and forklift
• Daily support to achieve packaging department goals
• Attend meetings to review safety, responsibilities & results
• Provide support for production staff
• Extensive cleaning and sanitizing of the equipment
• Enforcing quality control, efficiency, and accurate record keeping
• Working closely with all brewery staff
• Assisting the Packaging Manager in day-to-day operations
• Assisting Brewers & Cellar Person in day-to-day operations

Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift 55+ lbs multiple times on a daily basis with or without assistance.
• Ability to work in extreme environments in both hot, cold, and wet areas.
• Work in tight areas while twisting, bending, pulling and pushing
• Stand on concrete floors for the duration of shift (8-10 hours)
• Frequently climb ladders and stairs safely on a daily basis

Packaging Assistant Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated problem solving/analytical ability
• Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team building skills
• Demonstrated ability to be successful in a collaborative team environment
• Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a ‘get-it-done, can-do’ attitude
• Competent in using Windows or Mac OS
• Experience with double-seamed cans and canning equipment highly desirable
• Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multi task. The ability to think on your feet and adapt, flexibility is key.
• Organizational skills and ability to make long range plans and goals
• You know that working irregular hours is commonplace in the beer industry
• Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees and the general public.
• Strong reasoning ability and problem solving skills.
• Strict attention to detail & recordkeeping skills

Materials/Machines/Equipment Used:

• Automated packaging equipment
• Forklift
• Pallet jack
• A variety of hand and power tools
• Cleaning agents and other hazardous chemicals
• Keg washer
• Desktop/tablet computer
• Touchscreen machine controls
• Compressed air or other gasses, including C02, O2, and Nitrogen
• Other Materials/Machines/Equipment as needed
