  • Keg Passivation/Keg Washer issue

We just ran a stream of caustic 30 min per keg two at a time and now switching to an acid/sanitation cycle (*only one reservoir tank available, sanitizer blend center on the wall). The caustic cycles went pretty issue free, but now switching to an acid cycle is having our acid blend disappearing into the kegs and not returning into the tank causing us to have to stop the pump before the heating element hits dry town.

We are using a 2 head manual system. We have run 40-30min 2 keg passes on caustic with a new everything system. We are not losing acid blend as it does gravity drain back to the tank. Tried changing kegs... slowed the bleed, but didn't run right. Checked and reseated the couplers. Checked lines and open hardware. Last thing we didn't do was drain the system, take apart the entire keg washer, and reassemble.

Any ideas before I break rhythm and start disassembling to find the needle in the haystack?

    Many thanks in advance.

Looks like you are missing head pressure on the kegs to push the liquid out of the kegs. This could be compressed air or CO2.

We switched out the 1/2 bbls for a set of 1/6 bbls and it worked just fine oddly enough. Tightened up any loose nuts and checked hoses again. Tried a new set of 1/2 bbls and fail...

We have fleet of 1/6s to do tomorrow, but our 1/2 bbls are dead in the water. Tried to add air into the cycle, but the acid foamed out of the reserve tank. At least the floor is nice and clean now...lol
