Zero Gravity Craft Brewery located in Burlington, VT is searching for a packaging manager. The Packaging Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining all aspects of the packaging process to create top-quality, consistent beer while meeting targeted goals. The Packaging Manager should have a strong technical beverage packaging knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and extensive knowledge of brewery safety, sanitation, quality control, and reporting.

Position Requirements:

4-5 years of packaging experience at a brewery or related food and beverage company
1-2 years of leadership experience
Forklift certification
Skilled in Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs
Ability to work varied shifts
Be able to repeatedly lift 55 lbs. and walk up and down stairs
You must thrive working independently and have a positive personality

Primary focus of this position will be to assist the Director of Brewing Operations and Director of Business Operations in fulfilling customer demand for Zero Gravity’s quality craft beers. This position works with the Director of Brewing Operations to produce a schedule for packagers, has day-to-day oversight of operations in the packaging department, conducts weekly inventory of packaging materials and works with warehouse staff to ensure timely delivery of the required quantities of these materials to the brewery.

The Packaging Manager is responsible for coordinating the reporting and analysis of packaging data, including information on QA/QC, yields, labor, and efficiency, and works with the Director of Brewing Operations and Head Brewer to develop procedures for improvement in these areas. This position assists the Director of Brewing Operations with developing and executing a preventive maintenance schedule, as well as with quality control and regulatory compliance. In conjunction with the managerial responsibilities of the position, the Packaging Manager will fill production shifts in the brewery as needed. This position reports directly to the Director of Brewing Operations

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Build, lead, inspire and maintain a strong team culture
- Work closely with and report directly to the Director of Brewing Operations on a daily basis
- Manage packaging staff members (assist in hiring/promotion/training of packaging staff, manage training of all employees on proper SOPs, manage employee schedules and attendance, enforce company policies & SOPs, ensure staff safety) 
- Maintain consistent excellent quality of packaged beer. Evaluate performance of the operation, and make improvements to procedures, equipment, or work practices to elevate the quality of the packaged beer.
- Represent a strong presence of leadership by being actively involved on the production line during packaging runs and machine change over.
- Inform Director of Brewing Operations of issues and the resolutions
- Partner with QA/QC Lab Manager to promote a mindset of quality throughout production process
- Responsible for ensuring daily packaging schedule is completed consistently, on time, to correct volumes with a quality mindset
- Schedule canning and kegging daily operations
- Manage record keeping and documentation of all production operations  
- Further development of best practices and procedures
- Ensure packaging activities are done following all health & safety regulations
- Work with packaging staff, other managers & maintenance to identify and respond to hazards, safety issues & deficiencies in a timely manner
- Ensure equipment is well maintained to operate safely & efficiently
- Participate in identification of equipment performance issues
- Participate in company meetings and leading those that are production focused
- Operation of CFT MIcrobrew 10/2 can filler/seamer
- Operation of IDD Squire Plus 2 keg washer/filler
- Assist in other areas necessary for brewery success
