Head Brewer requirements
Description:
A soon to open craft brewery and 80 seat tasting lounge located in beautiful Sechelt, on the Sunshine Coast, BC just 50km from Vancouver with a great outdoor lifestyle that is affordable to live are seeking a Head Brewer to lead the growth of the business. Must be committed to brewing great beer and have a great attitude. The brewery is a 10 hL brewhouse and 20hl fermenters and bright beer tanks.
The role will be responsible for the scheduling and execution of all aspects of the brewery operations as well as hiring and training staff. This position involves recipe development for our house beers, seasonal beers and regular interaction with the consumers as the Head Brewer is the public face of the brewery operations.
As Head Brewer you will be responsible for scheduling production operations, ensuring safety and that quality standards are maintained, mentoring production staff, inventory management, and operational cost control.
The ideal candidate will be:
• Committed to the brewery brand, and have a passion creating tasty beer
• Outgoing, approachable, and personable with the brewery team and the general public
• Effectively schedule and manage brewery operations
• Committed to continuously improving the beer quality and brewery efficiency
Minimum Requirements:
• Experience min 2 years as Head/Lead brewer and/or formal education in brewing
• Production brewing experience
• A good understanding of effective quality management systems
• Experience in developing and scaling beer recipes
• Able to lift 25 kg loads repeatedly
• Filtering, and CIP of vessels
• Maintain equipment and keep a clean working environment
• Working with chemicals and MSDS sheets
