    In 2013, we opened Trophy Brewing intent on evolving the local beer scene, challenging beer drinkers with updated versions of classic styles and sharing our passion for beer and brewing with guests of all levels of experience with beer.
    Fast forward to 2019 and our intention stays true, and we are growing again. We are ready to move our small and exciting Sour beer program from the production brewery to its very own space for increased growth and experimentation. We are currently building a new facility dedicated to wood aged sour beer and bringing fermentation back to Morgan St.
    With this growth, we are looking to expand our team and are in need of an individual to lead the program. We are adding dozens of barrels, 3 Puncheons and 7 Foeders as we develop an exciting and comprehensive program and follow our passion and obsession for Sour and Wild beer.

    This is the Individual’s role as we see it:

    Responsibilities:
    Managing several concurrent fermentations to achieve desired flavor profiles.
    Managing and maintaining a database of existing barrel stock and assessing progress and important data points on an ongoing basis.
    Maintaining several cultures and assisting us to define and blend new ones.
    Propagation of cultures & determination of pitch rates.
    Creating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures for use throughout the program.
    Planning and overseeing the bottling, cellaring, and conditioning of various mixed fermentation beers.
    Working with ownership and the brewing team to create fermented beverages full of authentic character, terroir, and distinctiveness.
    Stay current with developing beer styles and propose new beer recipes
    Anything and everything that contributes to a positive, fruitful outcome for the mixed fermentation program.
    A number of other fermentation related side projects.
    Work closely with the executive team and staff to maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of Trophy Brewing beer offerings, beer styles and new releases & special projects.
    Assisting with milling, mashing, and lautering, wort boiling, cooling and transferring to fermenters, racking beer from fermenters to brite beer tanks, and ensuring all brewing processes are recorded properly.
    Keep brewing facility clean and functional at all times
    Follow cleaning and maintenance schedules and consult supervisor about cleaning needs.
    Performing all required cleanings to the mandated standard including tanks, Brewhouse, kegs and other packaging, packaging line and other equipment as directed.
    Assist with inventory counts of finished beer, grain, hops, and other raw materials inventory
    Follow inventory procedures for all raw materials, chemicals, beer, cooperage, small parts, packaging, supplies etc. and report deficiencies to inventory manager.
    Assist with inventory counts as needed.
    Monitor quality, temperature, pressure, gravities, DO, and carbonation of beers in tanks, in package, and at the Tap Rooms on a regular basis
    Participate / lead beer tasting panels
    Work with Chief Brewing Officer to keep an improvement log on all issues as they develop.
    Represent Trophy Brewing at various events, tastings, dinners, festivals and promotions. Promote good public relations and handle complaints and concerns.
    Follow all brewery and Trophy Brewing Company policies and procedures and follow current developments in local, state, and federal laws applicable to the service of alcohol, safe food handling, health standards etc.
    Label all kegs and other package product in accordance with federal and state law using appropriate keg collars, labels and date codes.
    Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.


    Basic Brewery Requirements:

    • Experience in a Commercial Production Brewery.
    • Advanced knowledge of beer offerings (flavors, ingredients, etc.)

    Special Requirements:
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule: days, nights and or weekends.
    • Must have own vehicle, valid Driver's License, current insurance coverage and clean driving record.
    • Forklift certified. (Certification available through the company)
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional manner.
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
    • Possess the ability to multi-task and manage stressful circumstances associated with a fast-
    paced and evolving work environment.
    • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
    • Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
    • Good understanding of quality assurance / quality control and problem solving skills as well as to troubleshoot any beer related issues.
    Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
    This position requires the regular use of a computer, printer, copier, telephone, scanner, calculator, cash register (at events,) keg washer, forklift, centrifugal pumps, electrical heating equipment, digital and analog scales, grain mill, hydrometer, refractometer, various brewing and lab equipment that is subject to change over time and handling pressurized gases.
    Computer Software: Ekos, Beer Smith, Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
    Physical and Mental Requirements:
    Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl or bend, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
    Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds, and be able to move kegs which weigh close to 165 pounds.
    High mental and visual attention required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product. AND/OR Extremely close visual attention such as making delicate adjustments to control high speed operations to exercise very precise muscular control.


    Environmental Conditions:
    While performing the duties of this position, the worker is exposed to inside environmental conditions, extreme heat, potential for physical injury, exposure to hot fluids, pressurized vessels and transfer lines, strong odors, chemicals, and moving machinery. The noise level in the work environment is moderate most of the time.
