    We are looking for an inspiring, energetic, and creative Executive Director to lead the Colorado Brewers Guild, representing The State of Craft Beer. This position is responsible for the effective conduct of CBG matters, and ensures the CBG mission, vision, and core values are upheld and strategic plans are implemented. This person will report directly to the CBG Board of Directors and is expected to plan, organize, coordinate, supervise, and direct CBG staff and programs. Full job description is below.

    Executive Director

    Basic Functions
    Reports to the CBG Board Chair and Board of Directors. Responsible for the effective conduct of CBG matters. Ensures the CBG mission, vision, and core values are upheld and strategic plans are implemented. Plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises, and directs CBG staff and programs.

    Operations:
    Conducts the effective administration of all organization activities.
    Implements the organizational structure for the Guild and the related staffing structure as approved by the CBG Board.
    Maintains regular and personal contact with the CBG Board of Directors and CBG committees; attends committee meetings as often as possible. (Committees are: Finance, Membership, Technical and Education, Brewpub Advisory Committee, Government Affairs Committee, Conferences and Events.)
    Serves as a subject matter expert or a resource, developing recommendations on policy for the Board and Board Committees.
    Administers an effective personnel program that includes position descriptions, performance standards, performance appraisals and a compensation system.
    Directs and manages CBG staff on CBG objectives and strategies for achievement of such objectives:
    Deputy Director – responsible for membership retention and recruitment, member services and relations, Allied Trade Partner relationships, management of Brewers’ Co-op of Colorado relationship, coordination of board meetings and retreats, financial matters including management of books, payroll, insurance, taxes, and expense reporting.
    Marketing and Events Manager – responsible for planning and execution of CBG fundraisers and donations, associated social media and marketing opportunities, retail merchandise program. Assists Executive Director with programming of Colorado Craft Brewers Summit. Elevates and enhances perceived value of Colorado craft beer.
    In coordination with CBG Board of Directors, establishes administrative policies and procedures for office functions.
    Manages CBG finances including the preparation of an annual draft budget for board modification and approval and long-range forecast of needs; presents regular financial reports.
    Responsible for the creation and adherence to an annual budget.
    Plans and coordinates meetings of the Board of Directors.
    In conjunction with the Deputy Director, serves as the registered agent for the association and maintains all applicable corporate records and filings.
    Undertakes action to maintain the legal integrity and tax status of the association

    External Relationships:
    Acts in tandem with other employees as the face of the Guild.
    Serves as an official spokesperson for the association and its related entities.
    Represents the Guild before governmental regulators and stakeholders, including the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Department of Revenue, the Colorado Tourism Office, local city councils and regulators (as directed by the Board), the Colorado General Assembly, the United States Congress, and various federal regulators, including the Alcohol Tax and Trade Bureau and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
    Maintains appropriate relationships with other associations, industry, government, public service organizations and Allied Trade Partners to enhance the image of the CBG and attain its objectives.
    Directs the efforts of all contractors.
    Participates in the CBG Government Affairs Committee (“GAC”). Responsible for implementing and communicating GAC recommendations and CBG Board decisions.
    Develops annual legislative agenda to guide the direction of contract lobbyists and Government Affairs Committee.
    Guides development of overall strategic plan.
    Serves as one of the association’s primary contacts and spokespeople with the news media, the trade press, and the general public, particularly on legislative and regulatory issues.
    Monitors changes in policy, regulatory, and legislative issues on behalf of CBG members
    Defends industry positions and the ability to conduct business.
    Advocates for improvements in business operations and continued access to market.
    Proactively and effectively advocates and advances the legislative and regulatory agenda of the GAC and Board at the Capitol and relevant regulatory offices.

    Member Relationships:
    Recruits and retains members
    Maintains regular contact with the members of the Guild by periodic visits, regular meetings and personal involvement.
    Establishes and supervises an effective program of membership development and retention, and the enhancement of membership services, tools, and programs, in coordination with Deputy Director.
    Attendance at CBG-sponsored and affiliated events, including, but not limited to:
    Collaboration Fest (Denver - March)
    Colorado Pint Day (statewide – March)
    BA Hill Climb and Gathering of the Guilds (Washington, D.C. – May)
    Lake Dillon Brew Festival (Dillon – June)
    Colorado Brewers Rendezvous (Salida – July)
    Castle Rock Brewfest Under the Stars (Castle Rock – August)
    Great American Beer Festival (September/October)
    Colorado Craft Brewers Summit (November)


    Promotion:
    Promotes the CBG brand
    Maintains effective internal and external public relations and communication that enhance and elevate the perceived value of Colorado craft beer.
    Works with Deputy Director to develop and maintain a communications program that is informative and responsive to the needs of the membership.
    Works with other staff to plan and conduct the Colorado Craft Brewers Summit, an annual educational, technical, and networking conference that includes programs and other activities consistent with the objectives of the Guild.
    Seeks opportunities to strengthen earned media and other marketing opportunities with Colorado stakeholders, including the Colorado Tourism Office, Visit Denver, other destination marketing organizations, and various other industry stakeholders.


    ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
    Inspiring leader with a collaborative, people-first, bias-to-action orientation
    Creativity and demonstrated success in fundraising
    Five years’ experience in managing organizations and leading people
    Approachable, high integrity, trustworthy
    Ability to delegate and hold themselves and staff accountable
    Experience representing or working within a highly-regulated industry
    Excellent written & oral communication skills
    Full financial and business acumen
    Time availability
    Ability and willingness to travel
    Access to, and use of, personal automobile (mileage reimbursable)

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
    Familiar with the legislative and regulatory environment in Colorado
    Familiarity with budget creation and accounting principles
    Enthusiastic about and committed to supporting Colorado craft beer
    Experience in the craft beer industry

    SALARY AND BENEFITS
    Base salary of $80-110k depending on experience
    Flexible hours and remote work opportunities
    15 days annual paid time off
    CBG partially subsidizes health, vision, and dental care for its employees
