Good People Brewing Co. hiring Part-Time Lab Technician

Good People Brewing Company (Birmingham, AL) is looking for a part-time Lab Technician to join our Quality Control team. The Lab Technician will report to the QC Manager and will be responsible for daily testing of beer at both Good People Brewing and Avondale Brewing Co.

Essential responsibilities for this position:

• Yeast counting and yeast management
• Perform off-flavor testing via UV Spectrometer (AA, VDK, etc.)
• Aseptic sampling of wort, yeast, and packaged beer for microbial analysis
• Perform microbial testing via spread plates and membrane filtration
• Prepare growth media plates and chemical reagents
• Measure packaged beer dissolved oxygen and CO2
• Identify issues on the production floor and communicate / troubleshoot with production team members on possible solutions
• Maintain a clean and organized lab space

This position will be part time (20-30hrs per week). We are looking for someone who is a natural problem solver and highly detail oriented. Must be dependable, self-motivated and work independently. A degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field is a plus. A strong knowledge of beer and the brewing process is a plus. Lab experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will be passionate about craft beer and will be eager to continuously learn and innovate.
