Attention beer lovers, Calvert Brewing Company has an immediate opening for two a full-time Cellarman. First shift schedule will be 6am-2:30pm and second shift is 10am-6:30pm. Both shifts will require someone with flexibility to work outside those hours or extra hours as needed. This is a great opportunity to be part of a successful growing Maryland craft brewer!
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
Prior Brewhouse experience highly preferred
Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively
Writing and math skills are necessary to accurately complete a dilution calculation, volume, flow, density,weight, length, pressure and other unit conversions, calculate beer volumes/losses and alcohol content
High school or equivalent
YOUR ROLE INVOLVES
Clean and sanitize fermentation vessels, bright beer tanks, centrifuge, filter, processing piping & hoses, and other required processing equipment
Manage and execute daily yeast removals and dry hopping
Blend and carbonate non-beer beverages
Keep all work areas clean
Identify mature beers for processing into a package ready condition in coordination with production manager
Stabilize, filter and carbonate of finished beer
Attend to various quality checkpoints and paperwork.
Participate in all maintenance duties for the centrifuge and filter press
Execute and adhere to all Company policies and procedures in a safe and efficient manner
Contribute to and participate in all small-scale innovation projects
Other duties, as requested by the brewing leadership team Occasionally sample product, attend beer events or represent the company at industry functions
REQUIREMENTS
Follow proper safety procedures and QC guidelines
Follow proper cleaning procedures for filter, brite tanks and fermenters
Practice proper yeast management
Utility work as needed in the brewhouse
Learn basic brewing skills
Keep the brewhouse clean and organized
Be involved with tasting and feedback on WBC products
During slow brewing weeks you may be required to assist in production or any other functions in the brewery that need assistance
Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Consistently lift & carry 10lbs & occasionally lift and carry 70lbs to chest height
Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, kneeling and reaching
Must be able to stand for the entire shift
Consistently able to use repetitive hand and wrist motion
Work with hot, cold and hazardous equipment and materials
Climb stairs several times a day
Frequent washing of hands
