    Jacks Hard Cider in Gettysburg, PA is looking for a help in our cellar.

    This role performs a wide range of cellar, packaging, and general cleaning/organizational tasks. This position requires a great deal of flexibility and training in every aspect of fermentation, cellaring practices and packaging. The right candidate will have a strong interest in developing their cellar skills, be detail oriented, focused and motived to play a part in crafting the best ciders. We at Jack’s believe we make the best ciders because we control every step of the process of taking the Apple from the tree all the way to our consumer.
    The cellar hand will assist operations team to fulfill customer demand for Jacks Hard Cider by helping to ensure that everything produced meets Jack’s high quality standards. This position also work within the warehousing and tap room staff to transfer finished product.

    Some Responsibilities & Duties:
    • Operation of canning line while adhering to standard operating procedures.
    • Press Apples —> run apple mill, belt and membrane press
    • Operate a forklift: load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials.
    • Monitor production schedules to achieve production goals on time.
    • Maintain a sanitary environment (including “triple rinse program”), which includes but not limited to cleaning canning line, floors, walls, tanks and ceilings
    • Learn, understand and execute packaging operations according to standard operating procedures
    • Keep and maintain packaging records
    • CIP bottling,canning and kegging lines
    • Ability to take direction and learn common troubleshooting for operations
    • Quality Control for low fills and improperly filled/packaged product
    • Ability to break down can seams and check specs
    • Counting stock inventory of raw, dry, and finished goods
    • Various fermentation and cellar tasks
    • Quality control- inspection of raw materials, dry good inventory, and finished product
    • Cleaning and filling of kegs

    Essential Requirements:
    • Ability to work on a ladder periodically up to height of 25 feet
    • Positive attitude and pride in your work
    • Physically be able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs, stand all day, lift 150+ pounds, work in a non-temperature controlled environment and repeatedly handle hot and cold liquids
    • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack
    • Ability to work early mornings, late evenings and weekends on occasion is necessary
    • Strictly follow operating procedures while recommending ways of improving them

    Knowledge & Skills
    • Interest and/or experience in the craft cider industry
    • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees and the general public.
    • Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multi task. The ability to think on your feet and adapt, flexibility is key.
    • Strong reasoning ability and problem solving skills.
    • Strict attention to detail.
    • Proven ability and desire to take initiative
    • Ability to adhere to Jack’s safety & quality procedures—> follow and document quality controls
