    Since late 2015, Indie has been a part of the thriving independent beer community in Los Angeles. We started as a four individuals who met over a mutual love of brewing and have grown into a close Indie family of eleven. We pride ourselves in producing great beer and a building a warm, comfortable and casual spot for customers to connect, relax and enjoy Indie. You can find us in 150+ places across Los Angeles and Orange counties.
    Indie is looking to bring on an Assistant Brewer to this small but mighty team. As production continues to grow, we need passionate and versatile teammates ready to jump in.     ABOUT THE POSITION
    The Assistant Brewer will report to the Head Brewer and is responsible for many aspects of the day-to-day operations of the brewhouse. The Assistant Brewer plays an active role in brewing and preparing the brew house for upcoming brews according to the production schedule. The Assistant Brewer will follow brewing procedures and recipes established for and approved by Indie Brewing Company. Candidates must share Indie’s commitments to quality, safety, continuous innovation and community.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Accept deliveries and prepare packages for shipping, including driving a forklift
    • Regularly scheduled brewhouse cleaning
    • Milling up to 900 pounds in 50-55-pound bag increments, in accordance with a brew/recipe sheet, over approximately 45 minutes
    • Assist the Head Brewer in wort production on the 10 bbl brewhouse
    • Aiding in spent grain removal
    • Assist in the harvesting and/or pitching of yeast
    • Operate keg washer
    • General inventory and upkeep of malt, hops, brewing aids, cleaning supplies
    • Warehousing packaging materials and finished product
    • Assist Head Brewer in various brewhouse maintenance tasks and facility improvement projects
    • Assist with packaging as needed
    • Represent Indie at events including tap takeovers, festivals, and collaborations
    • Other projects as assigned



    QUALIFICATIONS
    A successful candidate is a flexible, self-starter with the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
    • Must be 21 or over
    • At least one year production brewery experience
    • Organized with great attention to detail; Adhere to Indie’s strict quality control practices
    • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
    • Strong possession of common sense in all areas of work, including problem-solving and communication
    • The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company
    • Willingness to occasionally work during evenings and weekends
    • Forklift experience preferred (Indie will provide training)
    • A passion for beer!



    Physical And Mental Requirements
    • Able to stand for prolonged periods
    • Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
    • Able to manipulate valves and clamps
    • Able to regularly lift/carry 44-pound boxes
    • Able to regularly lift/carry 55-pound bags above shoulder level
    • Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
    • Able to lift/move 165 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance
    • Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
    • Able to both work and thrive in a high-stress environment that has a quiet to moderate noise level
    • Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
    • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floors
    • Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards




    COMPENSATION
    Starting at $15/hour

    Full-time/Hourly
