  • Hop Concentrate

Any suggestions from the group on how to get this thick sticky residue off hop concentrate off of the interior of our tanks? Tried hot water and a scouring pad so far.

caustic has never had any difficulties for me. Needs to be hot though.

I've used alcohol on small spills, but in the tank usually just use hot caustic

If hot (ca. 65 deg C) formulated caustic at about 2% w/v doesn't work too well, add some hydrogen peroxide to the recirculating caustic. Unfortunately, I can't advise how much per litre / gallon etc, as although I know we used it, I never got that involved. Your chemical supplier should be able to advise though. It breaks down very rapidly, being effective for only a few minutes, so cannot be reused as caustic/H2O2 mix, though if clean enough, you could re-use the caustic, and add more H2O2 to another clean

I use about 1oz of hydrogen peroxide per 1 Gal of water (as an additive to caustic).
