    Hi,

    We have a bit of a dilema. We ordered the brewery equipment but the manufacturer told us that the Chiller manufacturer (Coolsoon) does not use R404A but I can choose from R407C and R410A. Any recommendations which one to use?

    The thing about all refrigerant gases in this Era are they are a product of total scientific " Fraud."
    What you want to do ideally is standardize with something you can keep your hands on for the long term which is next to impossible as well.
    The fewer different gases you can have on a property, the better. The move towards Hydrocarbon refrigerants is a real bad idea, and will have untold and unforseen negative consequences.
    This is what happens when the people at large allow pseudoscientific idiots and criminal psychopaths to get control of these types of industrial issues.
    R410A has a better COP than R407C.
    If you have a machine rated for R-407C which means its an R-22 generation device, then you can run it on R-434A which is a much better choice than R-407C.
    There are a lot of R410A Chillers at large that work just fine, but I do not care for that class of high pressure gases personally.

      I would look at:
      1. What is standard for the manufacturer in the size you are buying.
      2. If there is no clear winner from #1 above, pick the cheapest.

      The key differences between the two are things that really only reside in "refrigeration nerd" territory and will have little impact on your efficiency, reliabity, or cost of ownership.

      R410a is very common, due to its use in Air conditioning. R407c is common in Asia, less so in the US but still common. Mostly you will see it in process chiller because it is similar to R22. If you hire a halfway decent service tech who works on chillers, 407c is probably on the truck. It is not hard to get.

      Context- 60-70% of what we build is 410a chillers. Probably 95+% when it comes to breweries. We use 134a and 404a depending on the type of machine.
