Brewer – Last Best Brewing & Distilling

Last Best Brewing & Distilling is a brewpub located in downtown Calgary, AB. We are part of the Bearhill Brewing group and feature a 20bbl, 2 vessel brew system and a 250 seat restaurant. We’re looking for a Brewer to expand our existing brewing team.

As a Brewer, you would report to the Last Best Brewing & Distilling Head Brewer and our ideal candidate would be available to start as soon as possible.

As a Brewer on our team, you would:
• CIP fermenters, conditioning tanks, transfer lines, and yeast brinks
• Perform daily QC checks including gravities, pH, and yeast cell counts
• Wash, fill, and store kegs in the cold room
• Filter selected beer brands using a pre-coat system
• Train and participate in our sensory program
• Safely use hot liquids and chemicals
• Handle raw ingredients – mill grain, weigh hops etc.
• Maintain sanitary practices during all aspects of wort production and packaging
• Keep detailed production and CIP records
• Comply with all company policies and SOP’s
• Assist the Head Brewer with any other necessary tasks

• Prior experience in a brewery or a brewpub is required
• Brewing Diploma OR B.Sc. in Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field is an asset
• A passion for craft beer and enthusiasm for learning new techniques are essential
• Self-motivation, strong work ethic, and good troubleshooting skills
• Team player

• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for entire shift
• Climb stairs, pull heavy hoses, wrangle barrels
• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 kg
• Willing to do all of this in hot, cold, and wet conditions with a sense of humour
