Novel Brewing Co. has expanded our beer production with a new brew house and we are now looking for a sales representative and delivery driver to help self-distribute this amazing beer! This person will be the vanguard of our brand, so we are looking for someone with great communication skills and who is knowledgeable about beer. The ideal candidate is excited to represent everything Novel to help expand our brand and presence throughout the East Bay. They are also positive, considerate, customer service focused, independent, self-driven, extremely organized and detail oriented, and most importantly be a member of our community, and ready to be an integral part of Team Novel.

This position is based out of Oakland, CA and the self-distribution territory includes the East Bay. We will consider inclusion of other territories for the right candidate (i.e. San Francisco). We currently maintain a small amount of very active local accounts and your primary goal would be to grow these existing partnerships and to introduce and grow our brand to new customers in the East Bay to meet sales targets and growth goals. This is a part-time role, requiring 24 to 32 hours per week, primarily Monday through Thursday mornings and afternoons (with flexibility).

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain and build on existing relationships with current accounts
  • Identify and engage with potential new account partners to build portfolio
  • Communicate with brewer on beer availability and beer release schedule
  • Maintain sales contact list
  • Prepare sales sheet and send out weekly sales email
  • Properly prepare, track, and use beer samples to educate accounts on our available products
  • Track status of empties and tap handles at each account
  • Prepare invoices through EKOS
  • Deliver kegs in a timely manner with beer description and invoice, and get invoice signed
  • Communicate with operations manager on account status (accounts receivable)
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the delivery (and empty keg pickup) vehicle
  • During delivery, if account is overdue, collect payment before drop-off
  • Retrieved empty kegs within one month after sale
  • Follow up at accounts to ensure our beers are properly labeled, represented, stored and served to our standards
  • Communicate with brewer and operations manager on the effectiveness of beers and beer sales to help improve overall success of future sales
  • Execute overall sales strategy and achieve sales goals
  • Know and understand the ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) laws pertaining to both the supplier and the wholesaler in your specific area
  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
  • Must have a personal vehicle that is in good working condition
  • Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, lift 55 lbs to knee height, and manage transport of 165 lbs kegs
  • Ability to safely operate a hand-truck and maneuver heavy items (up to 165 lbs) safely


PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Knowledge and passion for beer and strong competitive intelligence within the industry
  • 1-2+ years experience in beer sales or similar sales roles
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, listening and written
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities
  • Capable of seeking out new ideas, exhibit initiative and be proactive
  • Proficiency with Google docs, Google sheets, email, EKOS
  • Mobile phone literate, especially texting and maps/directions
  • Lives in (or near) and otherwise has strong roots in Oakland
