    We are currently hiring for our next Brewing Supervisor in Breinigsville, PA.

    The Brewing Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned shift to include safety, quality, efficiency, process execution, and team development. The position is responsible for in-specification performance of all product streams at Boston Beer and complete supervision of hourly staff. Supervises production operation in accordance with brewery policies and procedures. Also responsible for the development and maintenance of a system to ensure that all brewing products manufactured by the Brewery meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels. Supervisor position will rotate through all shifts on a periodic schedule.

    What You'll Do:
    • Must be able to work in and foster a team oriented, “Safety First” environment. Safely, efficiently and effectively work to attain department and brewery goals and objectives.
    • Observe and practice safe work methods and ensure 100% compliance with wearing and using the proper PPE.
    • Ensure product quality standards are met and ensure “Only good products leave the brewery.”
    • Promote Boston Beer culture, values and principles as well as participate in company functions.


    People Development & Leadership:
    • Strong floor presence and employee-engaging leadership style.
    • Demonstrate passion and enthusiastically support and drive a high-performance team environment through highly motivated, collaborative, engaged operators and leads.
    • Ensure there is regular open and honest, consistent, two-way dialogue to support performance and SAPB culture, values and principles across the brewery.
    • Must foster and maintain positive working relationships with others, including teambuilding events.
    • Direct Operators to perform required tasks to ensure quality brewing of product. May be required to perform the tasks of an Operator as needed.
    • Participate in interview and selection process. Lead the onboarding of hires and participate in operator succession planning.
    • Lead preparation and delivery of employee evaluation process and ensure alignment within the spirit of the performance management program, including new hire evaluations.
    • Oversee and lead operator training and development plans and initiatives.
    • Work with and coach employees to improve performance and close performance issues or gaps.
    • Proctor pre-shift meetings daily to express high level information and direct the hourly group through safety, quality, and material concerns, developments, or obstacles.


    Process Adherence & Process Ownership:
    • Must observe and ensure adherence and compliance with safety/environmental standards/requirements, sanitation standards and GMP guidelines.
    • Ensure teams are following processes and projects related to continuous improvement activities, including but not limited to; Lean, Kaizen, Centerline, line visualization, TPM.
    • Efficiently and effectively work to attain department and brewery goals and objectives.
    • Lead, develop and monitor all critical control points to ensure consistency and quality.
    • Must observe and ensure adherence and compliance with safety/environmental standards/requirements, sanitation standards and GMP guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance to standard and operating procedure through the use of SOP’s and checklist or other documentation.
    • Knowledgeable on company policies and procedures and administers them in a fair and consistent manner, including, but not limited to, brewery attendance program.
    • Supervise and review performance of direct reports and develop staff professionally and technically to meet goals.
    • Report, investigate and ensure accurate communication of incidents and work-related injuries.
    • Accurate and timely reporting of hours worked for payroll purposes.
    • Responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
    • Ensure that employees assigned to your areas of responsibility have verifiable training and follow all Safety policies required for the processing. Observe workers and evaluate job activities to determine correct use of process and prescribed safety equipment.
    • Ability to become certified in CPR and First Aid and Forklift Operation.
    • Manage process and formulation of Boston Beer Company products to ensure adherence to specification and performance targets.
    • Manages/conducts quality checks, process audits, and monitors production reports to ensure adherence to BBC quality standard and performance.
    • Perform audits to ensure consistency/repeatability and help facilitate flavor agreement across the multi-plant system, audits to include process, formulation, and sanitation practices.
    • Monitoring of QA data and reporting and amends/adjusts process and formulation as needed for specification adherence.
    • Participates in daily taste panel to evaluate adherence to quality specification and flavor agreement.


    Update, maintain and develop;
    • technical procedures for all process steps. Develop verifiable training records for each employee assigned to your area of responsibility.
    • CIP/cleaning procedures for all process equipment, pumps, valves, process lines and associated systems. Ensure all processing systems and equipment are maintained in the required level of sanitation.
    • Collect and maintain all records for processing, CIP, cleaning and servicing.
    • Develop production schedules for the brewhouse, wort cooling, fassing, filtration, and blend process operations for the department. (includes both short and intermediate process planning to look for product gaps and a process conflicts).
    • Manages and supervises the flow of materials and utilization of labor to ensure adequate production of required quality to fulfill production requirements.
    • Recommends to Brewing Manager and/or makes improvements to machinery, equipment, processes and facilities affecting quality, efficiency or GMPs in the department. Partner with the maintenance team in planning and managing maintenance items that require downtime, line breaks, or other coordination from the brewing department.
    • Inspects machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
    • Manages an effective safety program, assures all employees are fully trained and continually monitors employees to verify that all safety policies and procedures are in compliance.
    • Manages sanitation of his area of responsibility to assure compliance with GMPs. Develop documented routines for cleaning and maintaining work areas within GMP regulations.
    • Operate forklifts as required.
    • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.


    What We're Looking For:
    • Science Degree or equivalent experience in food and beverage processing.
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of proven leadership and supervisory skills/experience
    • In-depth understanding and track record of delivering operational processes that drive safety, quality, cost and delivery improvements.
    • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, Process Improvement and Process Control.
    • Strong follow through, communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills.
    • Ability to work with all levels of management in multi-functional departments.
    • Proven problem solving/conflict resolution skills; be able to think through issues and arrive at well-thought conclusions.
    • Able to impact and effect positive change with a flexible, open-minded, positive approach.
    • Demonstrated ability to be successful in a collaborative team environment.
    • Self-starter, proactive.
    • Competent in using Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint .
    • Ability to successfully motivate and coach others.
    • Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude.
    • Proven ability to prioritize, make knowledgeable, quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must practice safe work methods and comply with wearing and using the proper PPE 100% of the time on the floor and always work in a safe manner.
