  • Packaging Operator & Assistant Floor Lead

    Saint Archer is looking for an exceptional candidate who is passionate about craft beer to round out our brewhouse packaging team. As a Packaging Operator and Assistant Floor Lead, you come with brewery experience and will help lead the packaging team to achieve production goals, master the operations of our packaging machines and trouble-shoot as-needed, and document and analyze packaging operations and inventory.

    What you’ll be doing:
    • Assist the Floor Lead in the supervision of a team of packaging technicians and operators; assist in hiring and training packaging employees on packaging machinery and job responsibilities
    • Ensure that all beer that leaves the packaging department meets all Saint Archer Brewing Company quality specifications and maintain the highest quality for all beer produced
    • Promote a team-oriented and Safety-First culture by maintaining a safe and secure working environment within the packaging department at all times, keeping packaging areas and workspaces clean and organized and operating machinery following all safety guidelines
    • Consistently follow all SOP’s and evaluate and update packaging SOP’s and standards of excellence regarding safety and production
    • Collaborate with Packaging Manager, Assistant Floor Lead and Operators in improving line efficiencies, processes and decreasing material loss
    • Complete shift efficiency tracking forms and log all packaged beer into Orchestrated Beer, ensuring accuracy
    • Work in tandem with Packaging Manager, Floor Lead and Quality Control & Quality Assurance to convey instructions and direction to employees within the packaging team
    • Complete setups, change-overs and clean-ups in a timely manner
    • Perform basic and preventative maintenance on machinery to ensure it is functioning safely, properly, and efficiently; and communicate all mechanical issues to maintenance department
    • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to brewery standards and operate manual and computer automated equipment
    • Keep 5S task whiteboard updated and conduct weekly and monthly inventory audits and reconciliation of overages/shortages of materials
    • Perform monthly titrations on all chemical loops, checks on gaskets on beer lines and individual fill heads for cans and bottles
    • Perform daily checks on all SIP/CIP/PQC checklists
    • Communicate with lab on QC checks for all packaged beer, performing daily checks on batch numbers and pull-by dates of all packaged beer
    • Add to and analyze previous beer from library
    • Provide ongoing assistance with training team members on correct DAW use
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Packaging Manager

    What you need for the role:
    • Passion for beer!
    • High school diploma or GED
    • 2 years of packaging-related experience, preferably in a brewery
    • Minimum of 21 years of age
    • Ability to operate all Saint Archer Brewing Company packaging equipment
    • Experience supervising a team in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting a calm, assertive and respectful leadership style
    • Adept at communicating instructions to and training employees ensuring clear expectations of daily goals
    • Demonstrates a professional and engaged demeanor at all times and treats every employee, customer and client with dignity and respect in all interactions
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven mechanical aptitude
    • Solid analytical skills and math aptitude
    • Good time management skills and the ability to multi-task
    • Proven organization skills, record keeping, and effective document management
    • Knowledge of beer and brewing process is preferable
    • Ability to problem solve and develop solutions for complex situations and issues
    • Strong understanding of all areas of safety and packaging standards and strong skill set related to and cognition of mechanical, electrical and industrial systems
    • Knowledge of beer production, storage and packaging
    • Thorough knowledge of MS Office
    • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
    • Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization
    • Ability to multi-task and be flexible
    • Forklift certified
    • Ability to spend 10 hours working on your feet; frequently lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move 100 pounds
    • Ability to work a variable shift schedule
    • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
