    LOCATION
    ATHENS GA

    ABOUT THE ROLE
    The Quality Lab Specialist will contribute to the team through development and implementation of quality initiatives including analytical, sensory, microbiological, and packaging programs. Led by the Quality Manager, this position will collaborate with other Quality Lab Specialists as well as all other departments within the company.
    Our Quality Lab Specialists are passionate about craft beer and Creature Comforts and actively work to make each of them better every day. The successful candidate will work with all quality initiatives and be expected to not merely conduct testing but continuously improve it. This role requires a curious mindset, a passion for problem solving, and strong communication skills.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Executing microbiological checks for yeast health and potential contamination points
    • Facilitating formal sensory panels
    • Performing routine checks on packaging processes
    • Performing analytical techniques in the analysis of raw materials, wort, beer, and water
    • Maintenance and calibration of a wide array of laboratory equipment
    • Communicating results and decisions with numerous departments and stakeholders
    • Continuously improving current testing programs

    SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
    • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a curiosity-driven mindset
    • Fantastic communication skills and willingness to work with multiple departments
    • A minimum of a Bachelors in a scientific field of study
    • Ability to maintain and grow various quality regimens
    • Strong ability to constructively deal with problems and setbacks
    • 2 years of laboratory experience, preferably in the brewing industry
    • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds, twist/turn, reach over shoulders, bend and stoop
    • Familiarity in using laboratory instruments such as spectrophotometers, scales, laminar flow hoods, and various meters
    • Familiarity with brewing and beverage related devices such as density meters and gehaltemeters a plus
    • Competent in Microsoft office suite and aptitude for new digital systems.
