Hello,
We’d like to let our brewery customers know (in brewery terms) the amount of spent grain that our MACX bins (48” x 40” x 31”) will hold. This is really helpful for breweries switching from smaller and/or non FDA-compliant containers to the MACX bins. The bins hold 1,500 pounds/190 U.S. gallons. We’ve talked to a couple brewery customers and they use 4 bins for a 30 bbl batch. They recommend you only fill them 2/3 to 3/4 full (to get more longevity out of them and also to prevent any fermentation from causing a mess if they sit for a couple days). Plus, not filling to the top makes them easier to move.
If you have recommendations about the use of the MACX bins for spent grain, we’d like to hear them. Also, how many bbl are your batches and how many bins do you use per batch? We're looking for an average of how many bbl per bin if possible.
Thanks,
Cheryl Joyce
