The Genesee Brewing Company, based in Rochester, New York, is one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in the United States. The Brewery makes the Genesee line of beers, including the iconic Genesee, the refreshing Genny Light, and The Original Cream Ale.
POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises activities of union employees within the Packaging department to ensure the effective, timely manufacturing of quality products. Takes ownership of their line and maintains all aspects of the line including preventative maintenance, cleanliness, overhauls and efficiency. They will lead their team to operate high speed machinery and liquid fill packaging lines. Very fast-paced environment, multiple change-overs with multiple components and variations. Strong attention to detail is necessary to ensure operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage day-to-day packaging line operations and personnel
Ensure all employees are adhering to all company policies
Works closely with the line lead, maintenance, brewing, warehouse, and quality to ensure orderly operation of the line
Coordinates production operations within Packaging department that uses common production equipment, methods, and standards during their shift.
Coaches, develops, mentors, engages and evaluates employees including documentation, training, and disciplinary action as needed.
Maximizes output by reducing downtime through monitoring and controlling changeover, maintenance, cleaning, and breakdown time
Assists in creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)/guidelines and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and communicates such rules to team
Works with and indirectly supervises maintenance employees/personnel to assist with equipment problems, troubleshooting and executing of PM work
Maintain a culture of safety within the packaging area and is responsible for team members’ safety
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
OSHA 10 hour preferred
Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills
Green Belt Certification a plus
