    Job Title: Quality Control Technician

    Classification: Non-exempt

    Reports to: Head Brewer

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Summary/Objective The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and acting upon data from a range of quality control metrics for brewery operations at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. This position will perform lab based measurements and analysis of brewing products, as well as assist with brewery cellar and packaging activities as necessary.

    Essential Functions

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    1. Performs tests on beer and raw materials at all stages of production to ensure QA/QC parameters are met.

    2. Maintains brewery lab equipment and supplies. Orders materials and performs cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation and equipment.

    3. Monitors brewing, cellar, and packaging operations to ensure compliance with brand specifications, good manufacturing practices, and SOP’s.

    4. Reports and analyzes quality metric data and creates recommendations for improvement.

    5. Assists Brewers and Packaging Operators in completing scheduled production activities and cleaning and maintaining production space and equipment.

    6. Collects and maintains samples of packaged products for testing and archival.

    7. Communicates with management and staff on QA/QC status and performance.

    8. Assists with general production department workflow, data entry, and record keeping.

    9. Any other duties as assigned.

    1. Ability to create and edit spreadsheets and plot basic data.

    2. Knowledge of basic lab technique and lab safety.

    3. Mechanically oriented, able to operate tools and instrumentation.

    4. Detail oriented and meticulous.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may advise and direct other employees towards improving operations.

    Work Environment

    The Quality Technician works in a manufacturing environment with little or no climate control. Some exposure to conditions that are hot, cold, and/or wet may occur. May work in an environment with hazardous materials. Awareness of your surroundings, personal protective equipment, and proper attire are important to this position.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to use and manipulate fine tools and delicate instrumentation. Must be able to stand or move for an entire 8-hour shift. The employee must frequently lift and/or move cases of beer up to 25 pounds and 50-pound kegs, and maneuver 150 pound kegs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Some flexibility in hours may be allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Shift work may be required, with shifts operating from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the morning shift, or 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for the evening shift. Weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Travel

    This position will not require travel.

    Experience/Education

    · High school diploma or equivalent degree (GED) required.

    · College level lab courses or equivalent experience is preferred.

    · Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.

    · Must be at least 21 years of age

    · Must have reliable transportation to and from work

    · Must be able to work independently without day to day hands on supervision.
