    Dakota Point Brewing LLC—Seeking Brewer for Exciting Opportunity

    Dakota Point Brewing is growing and we’re looking for a passionate, driven, and hard working brewing pro to join our team.
    Our taproom, located in Rapid City South Dakota, the gateway to the beautiful Black Hills, needs a dedicated professional. Our perfect candidate has 2 years minimum brewing experience plus knowledge of cellar duties and yeast harvesting/management. We are seeking someone with background and experience with classic styles that’s not afraid to try new and interesting styles as well. We have a 7 BBL production brewhouse where we brew our standard beers and a 2 BBL pilot system where we brew our new and experimental beers. Currently taproom requires about 85-90% of production and the rest is for distribution. We want to expand our distribution footprint in South Dakota. We are looking for someone to grow with us and become an integral part of our team.

    Specific Duties:
    Wort Production—Organize and stage malts, mill, mash, lauter, transfer, boil, cool, ferment, dry hop, clear. Accurate and timely record keeping is a must. Communicate with owners on production schedules to ensure timely production and availability of beers for both tap room and distribution.
    Recipe Development—design and refine new recipes for our 2 BBL small batch program, scale to 7 BBL if beer warrants larger-scale production.
    Cellar Work—transfers, fining, yeast harvesting and management, kegging and/or transfers to serving tanks.
    Cleaning—all CIP procedures on brewhouse, fermenters, brite tanks, and serving tanks. Keg cleaning and stocking. General brewhouse cleaning including outside of tanks, floor, floor drain, etc.
    Inventory—Order, receive, and stock all brewhouse supplies, including malts, hops, yeast, chemicals, as well as small parts, and all items necessary for brewhouse operation. Maintain inventory accurately at all times. Monthly inventory includes all beer on-site, including beer in brite tanks.
    Mechanical Aptitude— safely inspects equipment and performs preventative maintenance on all brewhouse and cellar equipment. Must be able to understand operational components of the equipment and to be able to diagnose and report problems to ownership and make repairs of same.
    Marketing— at the request of owners: represent the brewery at beer festivals and events, conduct tours, do interviews with local media, and generally interface with the public.

    Working Conditions:
    • Flexible to work a rotating schedule as business needs arise.
    • Position requires standing for long periods of time (up to 12 hours), bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
    • Routine pushing, pulling, reaching, upper body and arm rotation, arm extension, and climbing ladders.
    • Very high noise levels in/around brewhouse mill (ear protection required when in that area).
    • Exposure to various temperature changes.
    • Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (ear plugs, gloves, boots, etc.).
    • Willing to work on weekends as needed.

    Education/Qualifications:
    • Degree in Brewing Science, Technology, or engineering is desirable, but not required.
    • Minimum 2 years brewing experience in a microbrewery/brewpub desired.
    • Knowledge of safe work operations, safety policies, and procedures.
    • Attention to details, ability to recognize when there is a problem.
