Delta Beer Lab is looking for friendly, reliable, and passionate beertenders for our progressive and vibrant brewery and taproom in Madison. Responsibilities include day-to-day guest service and operations of our social laboratory. As our beertenders represent the public “face” of Delta Beer Lab, you will be tasked with ensuring that Delta’s ideals are communicated through guest experiences. This position is open for weekday afternoon/evening and weekend taproom shifts. Full Time schedules are prioritized to ensure most staff receive adequate hours each week (36-40). Part Time opportunities are available to create a great guest experience during busy times.

We are looking for folks who have a passion for and fundamental understanding of craft beer and its culture, a great work ethic, and a positive attitude; and who are quality-focused, and embody inclusive and diverse ideals. Our beertenders will be self-starting and independent problem solvers, yet always keep the team in mind.

Staff must be over 21 and able to work 36-40 hours each week (for Full Time) or at least one shift each week (for Part Time), including nights, weekends, some holidays, and special events as needed. Interacting with and educating guests about craft beer is expected. Beer serving and craft beer knowledge is a must; learn all about our production process, and explain the differences between available beers. Knowing current trends of the craft beer industry, including hop, grain, and yeast choices is also encouraged. Our staff must be open minded and welcoming of all people.

  • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-moving environment, and remain focused on work responsibilities even during slow periods
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time; walk, talk, hear; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; push, pull, reach; crouch, kneel, crawl or bend; and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists
  • Must be able to lift 175 pounds with or without another staff member

Desired Qualities
  • Craft beer knowledge preferred; will train the right person
  • Bartending or wait staff experience is highly beneficial
  • Be an awesome brand ambassador

  • Desire to work with a diverse group of folks
  • Greet and serve guests in a positive and friendly way; greet everyone who visits the Social Laboratory with a “welcome” and send off with a “thank you” upon departure; treat everyone like a regular
  • Interact with guests, answer questions, and educate them about - Delta Beer Lab’s story, our beers and other products, and each partnering organization we feature in the Lab
  • Team player with the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Outgoing, friendly, and able to carry a meaningful conversation with guests while multitasking
  • Event Planning experience

  • Open/close taproom
  • Use Untappd Menu system and Clover POS
  • Wash glassware by hand or in the glass washing machine
  • Change kegs
  • Daily paperwork
  • Maintain cleanliness of Social Laboratory, restrooms, brewery premises
  • Fill growlers, and help restock merchandise
  • Assist in planning and organization of special events and parties
  • Social media and marketing assistance
  • Other duties as assigned
