  • Ethanol Suppliers

    Hi

For decades we have used spray bottles filled with ethanol to quickly sanitize things like valve surfaces before hooking up wort or yeast hoses, sample valves, and the like.

Ethanol is expensive, but it's food grade, and we don't use much. We've been getting it from the liquor store, and are now looking into buying it in bulk.

Does the community have any ideas or opinions about suppliers of ethanol?

    Thanks

why not use iso alcohol? relatively inexpensive, evaporates quickly, and its pretty much the standard for sterile sampling. Also, depending on your state alcohol laws, it may actually be a crime for you to have spirits on the premesis. It is out here.

      Depends on your Health Inspector.

Our Health Inspector insisted on using ethanol, not Iso.
Switched out to pass inspection. Went back to Iso, but always had a bottle of Popov in spray bottle just in case.

        Bulk ETOH in Oregon?

        Any luck with this?

We are looking for a bulk solution ourselves. Currently using about 1 case of Clear Springs/mo. Kinda spendy and we're getting quite the reputation for being a bunch of alkies.

I think OR frowns on iso use for product contact.
