General Summary:
Masthead Brewing is a fast growing, locally owned and operated craft brewery and restaurant in Downtown Cleveland, OH. Since we opened our doors in January 2017, we've nabbed a bronze and gold at GABF, made BeerAdvocate's list of Best New Breweries in 2018, and USA Today's 10Best - Best New Breweries (2019).
As a key part of our business, our packaging personnel are responsible for supplying our taproom and retail accounts with our products which are packaged to the specifications set forth by the Head Brewer and Quality Team Lead. They must be able to meticulously follow sanitary and manufacturing practices and procedures as well as have a strong working knowledge of all production equipment.
This is an entry level role in the brewery, but the right candidate will be able to quickly learn new tasks and become a critical part of the operation. The role will be packaging-focused, spending the majority of the week on the canning line or keg washing / keg filling. Other tasks may include loading / unloading trucks, maintaining a clean work environment, and cleaning / sanitizing cellar tanks. Quality is one of the main pillars of everything we do, so we require a passion for learning and executing key QA/QC tasks that relate to the role.
The perfect fit for us will go the extra mile in both ability and desire. Beyond being a part of the production crew, we are looking for a trusted team member that can contribute to our long term success. Experience in the brewing industry is preferred, but a passion for manufacturing and craft beer is a must.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Follow SOPs for canning and kegging beer to exact specifications for correlating formats
• Perform keg cleaning operations
• Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of packaging and cellar activities
• Perform finished product inventory counting and physical movements as directed by Packaging Team Lead
• Maintain a safe and sanitary workspace; follow all company safety and quality procedures
• Assist with brite beer cellaring including tank CIP/SIP/purging, carbonation, ingredient additions, general cleaning
• Perform basic maintenance on packaging equipment as directed by Packaging Team Lead
• Raw material receiving and finished product staging / shipping
• Maintain a positive, forward-looking and solutions-focused attitude
• Be an active member of our sensory team

Skill and Knowledge:
• Basic knowledge of and a passion for craft beer and the brewing industry
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Strong work ethic and can do attitude
• A desire and tolerance for lots of cleaning and sanitizing
Personal Competencies:
• Remain calm under pressure or when dealing with unexpected production delays or changes
• Be a strong and trusting team player
• Maintain relationships with coworkers, vendors and other breweries
• Basic problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
Hours, Travel and Physical Requirements:
• Monday - Friday, with rare weekend work
• Work in a standing position for long periods of time
• Request time off two weeks in advance
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver 160 lbs
• Ability to work in heat, cold and wet
• Physically able and willing to drive a forklift with training
