Double Shift Brewing Company in KC, MO is looking for a new Head Brewer
Double Shift is a 4+ year old brewery utilizing a 5 bbl system producing 1,000 bbls/yr, supplying a taproom and 2 distributors. We are looking for a Head Brewer that is able to continue to create new and interesting beers, as well as continue to produce the beers that we have been making for years. We are looking to grow in 2020 and this person must be able to effectively scale recipes and production with us. We are looking for someone that is a self-starter and able to work with little supervision. This person also must be able to manage a brewing schedule and staff effectively.
This position is Full-Time Salary, with partial benefits, and competitive pay.
At least 3 years of production brewery experience
Working knowledge of water adjustments and water building process
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
Production brewing on 5bbl and new 15bbl production system scheduled for 2020
Supervision and responsibility of all brewing and beer quality
Ability to work with taproom manager and sales manager to provide beer for all areas of sales
Ability to work as a part of a team to accomplish common goals
New beer development
Staff management and production schedule development
Maintain quality and safety standards in all areas of the brewery
Lift 60+ pounds
Be on feet for 8+ hours
Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, cramped environments that require kneeling, bending, lifting, pushing, etc
Appear at events as needed
Ordering all ingredients for beer production
Knowledge of yeast management, propagation, capture, and viability
Formal Brewery Education is preferred
Record keeping of all brewhouse activity
Experience working with canning lines is a plus
