A new Brewery under construction in Columbia SC, aiming to become a top beer destination in the southeast, requires a unique, experienced brewer with interest in living in Columbia, SC. Columbia is perfectly positioned between mountains and ocean - just 2 hours from Asheville and 1.5 hours from Charleston. This city, with a metropolitan population of 830,000, is also home to the University of South Carolina as well as the state capital.
We will be brewing beer on an automated 3 vessel 15bbl brewhouse (with automated CIP). In addition, a 5bbl pilot system will allow for more experimental, small batches. With these two systems we will be serving a 3000 sqft. taproom with rooftop terrace. There will also be private dining and meeting space on our second floor. Our ideal brewer will be comfortable, though not bound exclusively to, producing classic styles with confidence and precision. We will also aim to produce Sours, Hazy IPAs. We also plan on offering a house made hard seltzer option. Our ideal brewer should be able to enthusiastically lead a small team while creating, managing, filtering and packaging a diverse list of excellent beers for our immediate region.
Interested Candidates Should have:
Impeccable Brewery Sanitation and Organizational Skills
Creativity
Ability to create, prioritize and execute a daily, weekly and monthly production plan
Recipe Creation and Adjustment experience
Cellar Experience
Yeast Management expertise
A high level of Batch monitoring and Blending competence
Liquid Transfer Experience
Filtration Experience
Excellent Communication Skills
SOP creation and ability to create and manage a Maintenance program
Some Mechanical Skills
Packaging Experience
Desire to be part of building a creative and dynamic team that places a premium on innovation and pushing the envelope of industry norms
An understanding of how to communicate effectively with both customers and staff
Some Project Management experience (we are under construction after all)
