Position: Brewer
Objective: Successfully execute all aspects of production: wort production, cellar, beer finishing wood cellaring, and packaging. Contribute to a healthy team culture by maintaining positive attitude, professionalism and company vision. We are a startup, so wearing multiple hats is a must.
About Pathfinder Brewery: Pathfinder is a startup Brewery in Hudson Oaks, TX. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the very ground floor of a new brewery. I am literally still setting up the equipment, so I need someone help get us 100% ready to brew. And then brew some amazing beer from batches from 5 gallon pilot batches to 15 bbls on a brand new Alpha Brewing Operations Fully Automated brewhouse.
Primary Duties
• Beertender in the Tasting Room, until we sell so much beer I need you brewing all the time!
• Maintain a sanitary environment, which includes but not limited to cleaning floors, walls, tanks and ceilings. This is a *must*. If you cannot do this, please do not apply.
• Execute proper sampling and analysis of daily brews in accordance with schedule. Monitor vital wort indicators including but not limited to target gravity, pH, BUs and fermentability.
• Responsible for wort production including but not limited to raw material handling, milling, mash/lauter operation, wort boiling, cooling, and BH CIP.
• Responsible for CIP and preparation of fermentation, bright beer, and intermediate step tanks.
• Responsible for finished beer handling including but not limited to carbonation, DO monitoring and recording, and packaging preparation.
• Responsible for proper handling of yeast propagation including but not limited to inoculation, pitching, topping, aeration and CIP.
• Clean Kegs.
• Package beer in kegs and sometimes crowlers or cans.
• Maintain TTB paperwork and Brewlogs.
• Communicate clearly.
• Utilize a 5S approach for organizing supplies, tools and equipment.
• Participate in company events as needed while maintaining professional composure.
Requirements
• Work on a ladder periodically up to height of 18 feet.
• Physically be able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs, stand all day, lift 55+ pounds, work in a non-temperature controlled environment and repeatedly handle hot and cold liquids.
• Able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8-10 hours per day).
• Drive a small truck (Texas Class “C” license required) with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
Qualifications
• 1+ years professional brewing experience
• High School Diploma / GED. Brewing, Engineering, or other related education preferred
• Being “Handy” is a bonus
• 21 years of age, proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States
