Assistant brewer/ cellar/ production and packaging person needed. Berkeley Springs Brewing Company is a growing brewpub in West Virginia on the eastern panhandle. We were the 11th Brewery licensed in the state and the first in the eastern panhandle.
We were licensed in 2015 and have grown by leaps and bounds. On New Years eve 2017 we closed our previous location and moved to our current one at the Coolfont resort. We did that in less than 6 months. We reacquired our license in may of 2018 and we have been working hard ever since to not only grow our footprint in the 4 state region but also in house, producing enough beer for not only our 20 tap system but also making Kombucha for another 3 taps kegerator. Oh and we make our own rootbeer as well as some awesome BBQ.
We have expanded our offerings of kegs and 12oz cans to supply the entire state of West Virginia as well as accounts in MD and soon to be beyond. WE ARE BUSY!
Currently all this is being done on an electrically fired 3bbl Stout Tanks system filling 7 bbl fermenters. We have plans to expand our production into a 10 to 15 bbl system in future and are currently working diligently to accomplish that goal.
A successful applicant would be expected to work with the owner / head brewer to complete brews from concept to packaging. Attend beer festivals and promotional events as well as possible brewpub shifts.
A successful applicant must be physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying 55lbs grain bags and handling 1/2 bbl kegs that weight upwards of 170 lbs. Be capable of working with hand tools, ladders, dusty and hot environments, hot liquids and chemicals as well as have a working knowledge and be respectful of process and procedures of all aspects of the brewery work place. Must be familiar with all cleaning and sanitizing of lines, hoses, tanks and kegs. canning equipment and supplies.
A successful applicant must be 21 or over, have at least 2 yrs of brewery experience and be a homebrewer (not required but helpful).
A professional brewing credential would be very helpful but also not required.
References are required and a background and credit check will be required as well. We are an alcohol producer after all and as such we cannot employ anyone with a felony record.
Must have a clean driving record.
This will be a salary based position. Salary will be commensurate with experience, attitude and long term plans. Major medical health insurance and a furnished STUDIO APARTMENT will be included in the benefit package as well as a possible company administered E.S.O.P. program and a profit sharing program as we grow.
