  • Re-Pitching on Yeast cake

Is it acceptable to pitch a new batch directly onto the yeast cake of the previous batch, and what if so what would be the procedure and limitations?

No really recommended since there will be way too much yeast in the cake to inoculate your beer. Better to do a yeast count and viability to inoculate into a fresh tank.

I have done it on a pilot system when building up a pitch for a high gravity brew. Started with a Belgian Single, then double, then Quad. Far from ideal seeing how all the mess from teh previous batch was in there too. Beers turned out great.
