    Hacienda Beer Co. in Baileys Harbor, WI seeks a passionate, diligent, detail-oriented individual to join our team as staff brewer/cellarperson/quality lead at our production facility. Our brewing staff is crossed trained and spends time on our 15 bbl brewhouse as well as in our barrel house and on our canning and bottling lines.

    Launched in 2018 as an experimental side project to Door County Brewing Co, Hacienda's production facility shares 7500 sq feet with our original 90 seat indoor taproom and large outdoor beer garden. Our production facility houses our 15 bbl, two vessel brewhouse and small canning line. Two blocks away is our barrel house which is home to our mixed fermentation program. Our barrel house is home to a mix of new American oak foeders as well as a large amount of wine and spirit barrels. As of June 1st, 2019, Hacienda Beer Co also launched its first satellite taproom and restaurant in Milwaukee, known as Hacienda North Ave. Hacienda Beer Co. is known for producing modern, forward thinking beers and was named one of the 10 best new breweries in America in 2018 by Hop Culture Magazine.

    STAFF BREWER/CELLARPERSON/QUALITY LEAD Responsibilities include:
    • Work with head brewer to improve and systematize a comprehensive, well-documented quality program
    • Yeast cell counts and viability
    • Dissolved oxygen and total package oxygen testing, tracking, and reduction
    • Sensory training and testing
    • Cleaning and filling kegs, including transporting kegs for cleaning
    • Starting up, operating, and cleaning a semi-automated canning line
    • Racking beer between fermentors and brite tanks
    • Cleaning and sanitizing tanks and other brewery equipment
    • Harvesting and pitching yeast, monitoring yeast cell counts and viability
    • Milling grain and producing wort
    • Dry hopping, fining, and monitoring beer in tank by sensory evaluation and measurement
    • Following production SOPs and contributing to their ongoing development
    • Keeping accurate, timely, and legible records
    • Troubleshooting mechanical equipment to ensure safe and timely production of finished beer
    • Communicating with the head brewer to understand and fulfill responsibilities
    • Reporting safety, maintenance, or beer quality issues to supervisors
    • Representing Hacienda Beer Co. in a positive way and avoiding behaviors and situations that are not reflective of Hacienda's culture
    • Assignment to on- and off-site consumer-facing events outside of normal working hours, e.g. trade shows, beer dinners, and beer festivals
    • Other duties as assigned




    Qualifications:
    • Passion for beer and brewing demonstrated by professional brewing experience, homebrewing experience, or formal or self-led education
    • Ability to demonstrate repeatable, unsupported proficiency of complicated and sensitive tasks after training, practice, and feedback
    • Growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to openly communicate mistakes and gaps in knowledge
    • Demonstrated ability to make intelligent decisions in difficult, rapidly evolving circumstances
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-awareness, verbal and written communication, and emotional intelligence

    • A valid and current driver's license and ability to load, unload, and locally drive a commercial van or truck (no CDL required)
    • Ability to lift 55-pound bags above shoulder height
    • Ability to climb ladders
    • Ability to push and pull 165-pound kegs along floor
    • Ability to unload 2,500-pound pallets, 50-55 pounds at a time
    • Ability to work in tight spaces with low clearance for extended periods of time
    • Ability to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
    • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals and wear personal protective equipment
    • Ability to travel by car, train, and airplane
    • 21 years of age or older


    Compensation

    Full time/hourly, competitive based on experience
