    Taxman Brewing Company in Bargersville, IN (30 min. south of downtown Indianapolis) is looking for the right individual to join our close-knit team as a Cellarperson. We're a Belgian-style brewery with 3 gastropubs in the greater Indianapolis area, alongside being the largest self-distributed brewery in the state. We operate a 20bbl system producing 5000 bbl/year and typically 50-60 varieties of beer, ranging from award-winning abbey ales (blonde/dubbel/tripel/quadrupel), hybrid Belgo-American ales and traditional flanders-style and lambic-style sours. This position is an excellent entry-level/intermediate position that has great potential to grow along with us.

    Position Summary
    Position: Cellarperson
    Hours: Full Time, Hourly, Typically 40 hours per week
    Compensation: $10-12/hr to start, commensurate with experience, with potential for advancement.
    The Cellarperson position is an introduction into beer production, receiving training and exposure to all brewery operations, including wort production, coldside operations and packaging. This position is responsible for completing day-to-day tasks in the coldside (fermentation and packaging area).

    Key Evaluation Metrics
    • Execute cellar quality control and handle day-to-day cleaning & product transfer.
    • Cross-train effectively on all brewhouse, cellar and packaging operations.
    • Promote a safe and productive working environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Review production schedules and ensure coverage of all daily brewery responsibilities.
    • Assist with review of raw materials needs for the brewery (grains, hops, etc.) and cellar (yeast, tank additions, etc.) consistently.
    • Learn and adhere to company QA standards and controls (e.g. quantitative measures such as gravity/pH/dissolved oxygen and qualitative measures such as flavor/aroma profiles and off-flavors).
    • Operate packaging equipment (keg cleaner/filler, canning line and bottling line) and assist with packaging operations when necessary.
    • Maintain good and competent records of all brewing activities to assist with all relevant federal, state and local compliance requirements.
    • Perform general brewery cleaning and maintenance, including tank & equipment Clean In Place (CIP), sanitizing and all facility cleaning (including floors and drains).
    • Maintain safe operation of fork lifts, pallet jacks and other stock maneuverability equipment once trained.
    • Provide supplementary assistance for the company such as draft system maintenance, shipment staging, off-site delivery and cooler organization.
    • Prepare materials for and attend assigned industry-related events (e.g. offsite festivals, onsite tours, etc.). Preparations including jockeybox/draft line cleaning and the organization/return of all marketing materials.
    • Shadow roles such as inventory management, yeast management, maintenance, packaging line operation and barrel cellar handling.
    • Shadow brewdays on brewdeck, demonstrating understanding of all wort production SOPs when possible.

    Work Schedule Specifications
    This is a full-time position which may require occasional work weeks in excess of 40 hours with managerial approval.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    • Technical brewery education, professional brewery experience or extensive homebrewing experience is required.
    • Previous forklift experience is a plus but not required (will train).
    • Experience with Google Sheets or MS Excel is a plus.
    • Ability to work on your feet most of the day and work safely and effectively in a production space. This includes the ability to safely lift 60 lbs. and move 160 lbs., as well as work carefully around chemicals, heat, at ladder heights and around other environmental hazards.
