About Faces Brewing Company:
Faces Brewing Company is a brewpub located in Malden, MA, just three blocks from the Malden Center stop on the Orange Line. Faces is slated to open in April 2020. Brewing on our 10bbl brewhouse will begin later this month (February 2020), and we will continue to brew on our 1bbl system for pilot batches to perfect new recipes and small one-off batches. While Faces will offer certain ‘staples’ and traditional styles, innovation and exploration are key aspects of our brewing philosophy. Faces Brewing Co. is a ~300 person capacity brewpub, and we want to keep our patrons—and our brewing staff—excited every time they walk in the door.
Job Objectives:
Execute all aspects of production: wort production, cellaring, finishing. Applicants should be detail-oriented, have a passion for brewing, a positive attitude, exhibit professionalism, and help maintain a healthy work environment. Assistant brewers must work well as part of a team and communicate clearly and effectively.
Primary Duties:
• Maintain a sanitary environment (including—but not limited to—cleaning floors, walls, tanks, ceilings, etc.)
• Execute proper sampling and analysis of daily brews, in accordance with schedule. Monitor vital wort indicators (such as target gravity, pH, and DO)
• Assist with wort production (including tasks requiring raw material handling, milling, mash/lauter operation, wort boiling & cooling, and BH CIP)
• Responsible for CIP and preparation of fermentation, bright beer, and BH vessels
• Responsible for finished beer handling (including carbonation, DO monitoring, recording, etc.)
• Help maintain TTB paperwork and brew logs.
• Participate in company events and outings as needed.
Requirements:
• Able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs, lift 55+ lbs, and handle hot/cold liquids
• Able to handle caustic and acidic solutions.
• Able to stand for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per day).
• Strict adherence to standard operating procedures and recipes, while recommending changes or improvements to the brewing process to the Head Brewer.
• Maintenance of meticulous notes throughout the brewing, fermentation, and finishing processes.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Qualifications:
• 1+ years professional brewing experience
• High School Diploma / GED. Brewing, Engineering, or other related education preferred
• 21 years of age, proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States
